Lore
For thousands of years, magic has been used and manipulated by many people to better their lives and live comfortably. Magic is conjured through means of drawing Glyphs, and each element is represented by a unique glyph. Glyphcraft has been used reshape lands, grow crops, build bridges, and fight wars. However, Glyphs are complicated and intricate, and take many years to commit just one to memory. If a Glyph is drawn incorrectly, it could be catastrophic. Because of this, those who practice Glyphcraft take great care to keep their Glyphs hidden away, as most feel that it is their responsibility to keep such powerful magic out of the hands of those who are less responsible.
Sometimes, just knowing how to draw magic isn’t enough to pay the bills and young Glyphcrafters will often join mercenary guilds, and less commonly, local military. The guilds and military’s main purpose is the protection of civilians. Mercenary guilds are sent to farther locations to deal with monsters or marauders, and mercenaries tend to have more freedom than those who join the military. However, the Military focuses on the city’s defence, and is considered a safer and more reliable form of income. Both professions are excellent occupations for young adventurers. The largest city, Freeheart, is the hub of the world, with some of the most prestigious mercenary guilds and the strongest military.
Characters
Roxy-Mok
Assertive, critical, hot-headed and stone-cold, impatient. Roxy is a serial rule-breaker, and not afraid to hit below the belt.
Jillian
Usually seen close to Roxy-Mok, Jillian is a shy but accomplished virtuoso. She collects odd instruments and carries her hurdy-gurdy wherever she goes.
Ogglethorpe
(no picture yet)
Devoted to his faith, an elder worshiper of the Metal God, experienced forger, annoyed with weakness. Ogglethorpe is a patient healer, but more than willing to lay down justice with a literal iron fist.
Quinn
Quinn communes with the forces of decay and growth. Each word is well-thought and deliberate. Does not understand most humor thanks to his hermit lifestyle.
Janison
(no picture yet)
An old soul, practical, matronly, protector and defender, values the lives of others more than her own, may or may not like cats.
The Whirlwind
(no picture yet)
Overconfident martial artist, vapid, refers to himself in third-person, loyal to a fault, not good at first impressions.
Mirah
Exiled from her exotic homeland and excommunicated from her religion, Mirah is on a mission to clear her name and regain her position as a Warrior Priestess of the Sand Goddess.
Xilef
(no picture yet)
A young naive assassin-in-training seeking new guidance after his teacher was out-assassined by other assassins. He has aspirations to become a "hero," but may have too many homicidal tendencies to ever play the part.
Amelio
(no picture yet)
Talented street magician, exaggerative, glitter glutton, attention-seeking, excellent manipulator. Amelio's worst enemy is over-indulgence.
Ellie
(no picture yet)
A young magician progeny, Ellie has mastered the destructive forces of water, lava, and wind. Why those elements? Why not? She may sound like an airhead, but she is a force to be reckoned with.
Wryn
(no picture yet)
Inventor, highly intelligent, optimistic, hides a painful past, large vocabulary. Lasers and radiation are her favorite tools.
Hart
(no picture yet)
Evil villain or animal advocate? Hart is both. His quest to save animals from their abusers has left a trail of human blood, and the authorities are closing in. Hart is a dark and brooding vigilante with allies in nature.
Trillian
Otherworldly, confident, delightfully evil, summoner of equally evil things. Has a habit of giving everyone pet names.
Gernald
Not much is known about Gernald, and he doesn't know much about himself either. He either suffers from amnesia, or is exceptionally forgetful. The only thing he knows for sure, is that he used to be a horrible pirate, and he also love conures (NOT parrots.)
Screenshots
Ha! Made you look!
I apologize, but there are no screenshots yet. We're still in the process of finding an environment artist.
Excuses
There is still quite a lot of work before I am able to produce a playable demo. A very large portion of the game is complete already, but as I mentioned before, our team is currently lacking an environment artist, so basically there's nothing for the characters to walk on yet. Also, I apologize for posting this before I have all of the character's art fully finished, but I have been wanting to receive feedback based off of what I currently have to show, and this feels like a very good way for me to get that.
Thank you all in advance for any feedback I am given!
