It's basically Metroidvania meets Minecraft and is exactly as awesome as it sounds. I've yet to do a proper single-player run, but I've played through it several times online with friends and many fun shenanigans were had.

One of my buddies is like, super into it and has all sorts of videos on his Youtube channel of challenge runs, like almost beating Plantera with a copper shortsword in a ~45 or so minute endurance battle. He only lost because he didn't bring enough health potions. I'm not that obsessed, but it is a really fun game with a bunch of cool weapons and armor to craft and find, and lots of cool materials to build stuff with.

Not my cup of tea. I love Minecraft, but removing one dimension from the equation made it far less fun for me; I just wanted to play "proper" Minecraft all the while. I know Terraria offers a lot more adventure stuff to do, but if you play Minecraft with modpacks like Hexxit, you'll get that in addition to the extra dimension. That's a lot more fun in my opinion :)

I just don't like the idea of having to mod my games to enjoy them. Minecraft is definitely the superior creative tool, but unless you use mods it's completely inferior as a game. At least, in my opinion. And since I don't like using mods too much, yeah. I prefer Terraria XD

Also, didn't the most recent Minecraft update like, completely break modding or something? I hear my friends talking about it all the time.

Pretty enjoyable game, especially with friends.

Agreed, but, mods can't save Minecraft from still being an incredibly boring game.

Perhaps, but because of launchers like the Technic launcher and Feed The Beast, I have those installed on the side for mods which run older versions. Completely automatic installation and hassle free.

But I disagree that Minecraft is boring; if anything, where it is now it's amazing as a game without any mods. But you have to enjoy finding your own challenges. There's nothing pushing you to do anything; you need to go look for adventure. I love that about it, but I can understand how others don't.

I usually play feed the beast unleashed. or Tekkit Lite. Hexxit didn't do anything for, perhaps thats because i played very early builds of it.

I do think Minecraft is superior over Terraria. They both have their perks though.

It's also only fair that I mention I haven't played Minecraft in absolute ages, so it probably is a lot better than I remember it being. But even if it's been updated a lot I still just prefer Terraria's Metroidvania style of play than Minecraft's 3D world. I also prefer Terraria's graphical style a lot more.

Graphical style doesn't really matter in minecraft as there are so many texture packs its not even funny.

I prefer the "unlimited" world generation of minecraft rather then small medium large maps of terraria. While that large one is well... pretty dang large. Plus I find it easier to build in minecraft for some reason. Lol

Also another note worthy game - Starbound!

I enjoy Terraria more than Minecraft because I play it as a game. I don't do no-life creative structures that takes months to make, I play it to progress and explore, to "beat" the game, to eventually end-game myself with all the best items for each class-type with the best prefixes.

Which I did.  =)

So do I with Minecraft. And why do you say "no-life creative structures that takes months to make"? There are various levels of building and the time it takes. And you can beat Minecraft; there is an ending, actually.

I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just questioning the wording of your opinion :)

I just find that Terraria has so much more "content" that makes it more enjoyable for me, a non-artistic gamer. I know the Wither and Ender Dragon are end-game in Minecraft. My brother plays Minecraft a lot but he's the opposite for me, he plays to make a giant castle house, a huge pyramid greenhouse to grow crops, a ranch to farm animals, etc. etc.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
