The event...

And how it appears in-game...

W... what... I... what? Why? This has never happened to me. What did I mess up?

You can only have so much text per line, and when you put the bust/facesets picture IN the text box it causes you to lose even more space. There should be arrows in the text entry that show your points of cut off; one for the facesets, and one without.

EDIT: Well, there should be Arrows with VX Ace. I've not used...what is that, 2003?...in a very, very long time.

Aha! That's it! My apologies, I missed this in the help file:

The amount of text that can be displayed in 1 line is limited to 38 characters if a face graphic is displayed, and 25 if otherwise. The 2 grey lines drawn in the window indicate the character count.
My screen must be a little on the bright side, I didn't even see those lines. Oops! Thanks so much for your help. :D

(Another mistake I will only have to make once, wehehe.)

I made the exact same mistake myself when I was mucking about with it for the very first time.

Use Killozapit's word wrap script to fix this issue :)

I kind of like it because it subtly teaches you to write dialog more efficiently.

Pro tips:

if you use commands like \C[##], \. and \S[##], be sure to subtract them from the number of characters on that line. For instance, if you have a full line of 38 characters, but change the text color twice (\C[1] and \C[0]), it's technically going to be 48 characters in the editor and be outside that measurement line, but in-game it will fit the text box perfectly because there are 10 extra characters in that line that get used for commands.

Also if you use the "Enter Hero Name" command (or whatever it's called) and \N[##] to display hero names in the message boxes, be sure to account for them being 12 characters long (the maximum), so that nothing gets cut off.

Yeah, I like the smallish text boxes for that reason, too. I'm pretty wordy, so it's good to have a constant reminder to keep my dialogue efficient. Those are good tips! I hadn't thought of subtracting the tags. That's a good thing to keep in mind.
