Hello fellow game makers! :)

For the last two weeks @yopeople and I have been VERY busy working on a small game for a gamejam over at itch.io.

Now we'd like to share our game with you!

Up now is a demo version, because we could not manage to tell the full story within the two weeks of given time and decided to do a cut at some point of the story,

to at least reach a certain quality for the first part of the game. And that we would do an update later on with the second part. The gamepage on itch.io will be updated with the full version soon.

But for now we'd love to hear your thought about the game!

GENRE:
RPG - Exploration, Horror.

Playtime: About 7 to 10 minutes. Final Version will have a few more minutes.

THE STORY

It's a very small game about a girl named Eliza who's lost in a forest. She's in search of shelter and tries to find out, who she is and how she got lost in that dark old forest. Through the story itself is very short and the time to develop this game was very limited (due to the reason of being a gamejam project) we tried to build up a lot of atmosphere with the graphics (mainly RTP edits for the environment and custom character art) and the custom music. It's set in a more medieval environment.

It's basicly a game about exploration. There are no actual battles, but you'll have to face (and dodge) some danger, therefore you'll have HP, if these fall to 0 you'll get an game over.

FEATURES:

  • Unique Art (Busts, Sprites, parallax mapping by @Plueschkatze (me))
  • Unique Music (composed by @yopeople)
  • A somewhat fairytale-ish story is told
  • Aspects of exploration games and popular rpg maker horror games (use of music and sound effects to build up atmosphere, chase scenes, small puzzle etc.)
  • Limited HP, mistakes within the gameplay will cause a game over.

The art is beautiful, and although the game is small, the story was great.
Maneuvering through the houses to escape was a really fun (and intense!)
It held my interest the whole time, loved it!

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
