Here is a collection of animals events that I have created for my game. This tutorial is aimed at beginners and may be updated in the future. 


1 Rabbits that panic when the player comes near


Note: the rabbit sprite is from rpgmaker xp since there isn´t one for vx ace

2 Wild horses that run away when the player approaches

3 Guard dog that becomes aggressive when player tries to open a gate

Note: This will make the dog calm down after a while. You can set wait frames for longer if you want the dog to bark more.

@Wookiee420 requested birds in another thread, so I am creating three events where birds fly in different ways. Now, Ace do not have a bird sprite so I am using a butterfly as a placeholder instead! Just substitute my own poor drawing of a butterfly on a rock for your own birs sprite. 


A bird that flies away when the player comes near

We start with an empty event. When the player enters this area the bird/butterfly will fly away. Place them around a collection of birds for maximum impact!

When the switch is activated, set the event like this. The image below shows what the movement should be like.

Feel free to create a flight-path of your own.


A bird that suddenly takes off and flies off-screen

Naturally you set the timing different for each bird tomake it more natural.

and how do you activate these? like i understand how you are making the events but what triggers it? what does the player do? how do you activate the switches?

I realize that I am ridicolously late in answering this @Wookiee420 but I intentionally made it vague so that potential people using these events may start them up as they please. It can be used when the player approach an area (just make a player touch based events to throw the switch) or as a consequence of something else happening. If you have a smaller scene you can do an autorun un order to make the animals react after a certain amount of time has passed.

Apropos of nothing I have created a few more events with animals. A fox that hides in the woods and must be coaxed out with a nice plump duck from a wagon and a bear that attacks if you bother her cub (uses the demon king during battle since I do not have a bear battler yet). All of them are created using a single switch to control what the animals are doing.

since all my maps are hand drawn... I admit, I super envy those who can make the tileset's work. I'm garbage at mapping, but slightly less bad at just drawing my own areas. plus it's easier to draw my own sprites than edit others to look like my characters.

aww man, color hex code #C4C4C4 doesn't work for the tint value in this scene I need something darker, which stinks just because I liked that one it was my favorite plastic explosive three times...#696969 (nice) should work better (WHY IS MY BRAIN LIKE THIS)
Tell it to me straight, doc. If I've been trying to piece together a "shorter" game to learn stuff outside of game jams... am I just running away from my WIP? :v
