It's an RPG since it has stats and you're allowed to fight against the certain enemies if they catch you.


Sachiko is an exception of the rule as she toys with those who are trapped in there.

First feature reveal.


Collectable manga panels. Collect all panels and you unlock a manga page in-game. There will be 39 manga panels to find. The system is already evented in-game.


When you pick-up a manga panel, it appears on screen and the game tells how many panels you have found.


If this sounds something like from Psychonauts, I wouldn't be surprised.

Great that you're using Lunarea's tileset. I'm the also one who uses her tileset.

Yeah, great for parallax mapping purposes too.

Random lore fact: Collars, especially vampires ones are permanent. A powerful magical enchantments make sure that nobody removes them too easily. Collars also in terms of lore are reason why playable characters are so powerful compared to typical villager. It is not just their ability to fight better but collars also aid in that by providing a "class" like Ninja for example. It is even indicated on my book. It should also be noted that collars don't wear and tear as long they are enchanted.


I think many of you are looking forward to play the demo. I try to cook up something before the deadline is too near to make any changes.

This is looking quite good Clord. I like the art and the mechanic where you combine manga pages and comics is really interesting. 

Hopefully we can see a demo soon of this :D

It is probably not your fault, I know... but I have to admit the Steam way of doing things is really messed up. I subscribed but it didn't download at first. Had to recheck the RPG VX Ace installation to kick the download to start. Then it stopped after downloading 7.9 MB of the content, then had to load RPG VX Ace through steam and open the Project Manager to get it to download again... 

I'd say perhaps a normal upload to any hosting website like 4shared, Mediafire, Dropbox, etc... would have worked better. 

Eitherway, I am waiting for it download to try it :)

Well, we plan to update the demo a bit later so it didn't really make a sense to have alternative download location as of yet.


We are currently working to put together an actual intro. Gotta wait that Blood-Fury has done his parallax maps for it.

It's really hard to pull off this game in month while using parallax mapping.


Proper several hours experience with this style would take quite a while to achieve.

Yeah, parallaxing doesn't sound to be the best thing for a competition. I mean, the maps look good in it... but in all honesty the hassle is really a major put off.

So I tried the demo and all in all pretty good job. I liked the fact that I could use my mouse and my keyboard to move. 

Also I loved the

influence of Dark Souls in the game; souls gathering and souls uses gives you stat rather than souls as currency.
though I found a few bugs that you may want to know of; they are in the spoiler below:
This happened when I acquired the second manga panel from the skeleton in the second right room. The room just right of the blacksmith at the start.



One other thing, are the shadows supposed to hit me twice in their turns? They don't do it all the time, but sometimes they do hit twice on their turn rather than once. Also, for some odd reason, the location at the blacksmith seems to spawn 3-4 shadows? And they fight you continuously? 

While I like games like Dark Souls that is hard by nature... it was kind of tedious/hard to kill them without dying. I had no items to heal me and they attacked just about when I opened the chest. To top that, my normal attack hits for 40ish while their's is close to 120ish? Or so I think... seems kind of unfair.

In the room with Batsu? The panel trade dude? The blue orb says "I steel feel pain" instead of "still"

When I died, I was resurrected as a corporal being and went in to get my souls back but I didn't find anything in the room where I died (the Blacksmith room). Had to reload the game again. 

On my 4th trial:

When I was a ghost, trying to get my souls back, I died in the room next to the hooded figure (first room to the right), the trap killed me while being a ghost. Which made me lose all my souls, I believe?

Finally the background music, while it suits the mood... I turned it after 2 minutes... it is quite annoying. It is good for the mood in general but later on it wasn't really. 
All in all, I think you guys did a good job and have put in a lot of effort... it would be really cool to see the final version :D

Meh, worst case scenario ill just start replacing my blood with caffeine and stop sleeping altogether to finish all the maps.

But in all seriousness, i think the time and effort it takes to parallax stuff was worth it for the "artistic value" alone.

It also helps that Clord does most (if not all) of the clever eventing stuff and i can just concentrate on doing the art and look of the game in general.



Atleast the hardest map to parallax is done now!

Yeah i haven't been able to spend much time actually playing the game too much recently myself (due to working on the parallax mapping stuff...), so i still need go through the game again and check if all the text and story makes sense to me aswell. Anywho, thanks for the feedback! It's super useful at this stage of development. :)

AHAHA (Actually Hard Action Horror Adventure) difficulty is incoming. On that matter, difficulty setting will be available (Blood-Fury and I made the term.)

Hahah, that is a cool term you coined there :D .

Gotta say the mapping is really nice and you guys put a lot of effort into it. Question though, why are all your characters females? XD

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
