Before this starts I need y'all to know. That weird dragon you'll encounter is just a placeholder. I needed a dragon and I didn't like the main one in-game, which I did use, so until I've gotten GIMP working again, or I find something else to use, that weird more lively dragon is just a placeholder. I had to say this as to not confuse/annoy anyone who decided to test this.

Characters:

Zephyr is the first character you play as. His story is short in the demo but as more is done the longer his story gets. Chris is the second character you play as..his story is also short...however with the more I update the more I shall increase his story. Shylo...her part is supposed to be short...just a quick BAM in your face here's all this S**t and you need to deal with it sort of thing. Alara...right now her story is short but as I said above...hers will also be longer. Once I get all the maps and cutscenes finished...I shall be making Chris, Alara, and Zephyr's story's to be at least 1-2 hours each just to get you involved with the game.



Prologue/Plot:

In a temple far to the east,


There is a prophecy.


The monks hoped it would never come true,


for if it did it meant the end was nigh.


 


The prophecy spoke of four kids;


Zephyr, Alara, Shylo, and Chris.


 


These kids, chosen by the crystals,


Would be the worlds only hope of survival.


 


A light in the, soon to come, never ending-darkness.


These kids would experience something like no-other


and from those experience, they'd grow strong.


 


An evil man, one of the old priests, has been


waiting for them.


 


Will they accept their destiny?


Will the monks chase them away?


 


The kids would be unaware that they even have special


gifts as the monks called them.


These gifts would allow the chosen ones to pull off


miraculous feats and even survive the worst odds.


 


However these gifts come at a price,


the monks knew that and yet stayed silent.


They raised a chosen one, a witch, to believe in herself


and now the time has come for the children of crystals


to accept their destiny and save the world.

So I just finished the first part of the demo for my game "The Crystal Prophecies" Also referred to as TCP.

I've got the version with RTP and the one without.

The one with RTP gives you access to the actual game and are able to open it in the editor.

The one without is just the game.

So far this is just the beginning (A few cutscenes...character select and yeah)

Edit 1A: No more character select...instead you'll play one chapter per character until you all meet up.

Once you finish the intro (Which sorry about the text time and spacing, I was rushing) and appear outside the castle. Immediately hit 'X' and then go to the castle (You can head to the town first but that's upto you)

Oh and in the castle town...explore all the rooms and the fancy save point (It gives you a one time save bonus, although I'll be making all the save points do this once)

The desert town has nothing yet...as I didn't get that far...this is a very short demo..but I placed it here for feedback.

No this isn't my first project...but it's the first one I've actually decided to put together.

(I made other projects using tutorials just so I could get the hang of things)

Edit 1B: Chris now has a slightly completed story....just make sure when in the town...to talk to the green haired guy, escape, rebattle and then to win and head straight up to the castle. Afterwards you can do whatever.

Edit 2: Yes I know a few other things are very slightly broken...I think it was because I almost lost my game once due to something being corrupted, and only having an encrypted RGSS3 file. I managed to decrypt it but I think that broke a few things.

Edit 3: The old links were broken. I managed to fix them and replace them with the upgraded demo, the old one had many problems.

Edit 4: I replace the links every week or two. Just as I add more and once the project is completed and all the bugs fixed. 

Edit 5: I added the .exe's to a zip file as I noticed some web-browsers (Chrome, Firefox) liked to detect it as malware and delete it before it's
downloaded. Just hope it helps.

Edit 6: Added in a brief cutscene with a character explaining, sort of, this origin. Also I am aware that the other chapters are short but do not worry...within the next demo or so I shall be adding about 4-6 quests per chapter, except chapter 3, taking out the fourth wall breaking references/texts and fixing the title screen music as well as the two remaining broken cutscenes (Alangard and the Knight)

Edit 7: Credits go to Yanfly, Yami and Neonblack for their scripts. Yanfly and Yami: YEA Core Engine, and YEA Battle Engine. Battle Symphony (Plus the 5 addons, Skill Effects, Visual Effects, Enemy Charset, 8D battlers, Holders Battles) Neonblack: Star Passablility Bug Fix

Edit 8: I did manage a few more cutscenes instead of the awkward oh look you guys just appeared together in the paradox thing. The flashes were the right color, but I forgot to make them bright enough/strong enough to even be noticed. 

Edit 9: So I had been asked recently why in one of the links I provide with the file, the .rgs3 or whatever it's called, isn't encrypted? Well to answer that in a simple form. It's so that if anyone wishes to either fix something, or to see what exactly I did and where, they can.

Edit 10: I couldn't seem to fix the guard or the dwarf....they still seem to be there after all is said and done. If someone could possibly check it out and tell me what I've done wrong and how to fix it, I'd appreciate it!




New edit: Hey guys..I was away taking some personal time, as well as trying to update my skills and fix all the broken stuff in my game. I do however need some help so I might go to a project recruitment area and make a new post there. If anyone wishes to help in either fixing some of my errors, or add in their own content and help me create my first game, look-out for another edit for this.

PS: Did I just revive a dead-post and isn't that necro-something? If so...I apologize, don't send me back to Diz...he'll just send me back to animated Twilight Town. (Anyone get the reference?)

The music goes well with the Intro, it have some misplaced comas there but it is an easy fix.
Nice classic Intro, love it, lots of text with no images but still is nice storytelling and I love that.
Hmmm, you should make the Zephyr go to the castle by eventing or maybe an small dialog that he has to go to the Castle so people that didn't read your post don't get confused.
Ha! Love the Save Point Message.
[At this point you should know I´m writing this while playing...]
The Castle City looks good, maybe a little more variety with the buildings, but it seems you plan to do a lot of inside houses here, and you know well your people, the Pub just next to the Inn...
When you use the Power Ups beside HP and MP it won´t show how much it goes up, you should fix that, don´t know, maybe call a Common Event and check the character status store it in a variable after you use the item and tell the player that the Power or Speed is X now, or something like that.
Also I forgot to mention, the Save Point Crystal is supposed to go black in the animation?
The gardens are cool maybe putting some benches for royalty? BTW if you want the trees edit I did to use in my map just ask.
The Magic shop looks nice, thanks for the free money Oh Great Wind Spirit (it is Wind no?), maybe a little big? Hmmm I´ll be doing some Interior redesign of the RTP, when I finish and tested it in Forgotten Memories if you want them for you just ask. Or if you want something not to much ambitious I can help.
Haha, love the selection options, that´s what I need in my demo, more sarcasm and my idiot humor.
Here you should say something like that the Rogue has joined your party or something.
One question, how much I have to wait until the Wind Spirits lend me some money again?
Ah! Why the lack of doors, really poor security in that castle hahaha.
When you transport the player to the other map try doing it a tile up because I just moved left and it transported me right back to the other map.
Also when I went to the Castle it says the same message again.
LOVE The Castle!!! Wow! I think I can´t be that patient to make a big Castle like that, if I do one it will be just the entrance, people will need to use their imagination to figure out the rest of the castle by walking the interiors.
Errr, as a normal person I asked if I would die and it froze...
Well good it did just that, I didn't visit all the shops at first now I have some good ol´ potions and antidotes with me.
Remember you can make the inner maps smaller, just make an small room and surround it with black.
Oh man no Pub Map? Forget the sleep I need a Booze!
Errr, no error this time but I think the guard is a ghost or something, I used the second option and went back to the other map by mistake, then the guar was standing there I tried talking to him and it disapeared...
In the Sand Town the house just down the entrance has some problem with passability, if you try to enter you can go to the roof.
Same with the house surrounded with flowers.
Man that unknown character intrigues me in so many ways, maybe an small text about who he is or something, and man try tu put some animation and effects in the transitions they look hard, but seriously, who is this dark guy?
Hey! Nice battle system?! Damn Zubats! I mean Bats!
Man again, Who is this guy?! He dispatches bats more quickly than a Super Repel!
Also, awesome Battle System.
Man again, Zephyr needs an upgrade or this Lamia is too hard?
Just now I realized that Unknown has 0 HP and still lives?! He´s a Vampire, an Undead of any kind?
After getting the Princess you should make the player walk to the king with the Princess and then give you the shinning.
Errr, the guy that salutes you when you first enter the Castle also disappear when you talk to him. Seriously I think Zephyr is dead and all this people live in the after-world, or something?
Man, what the hell you can you give the big spoiler that someone will pass?
Chris town looks much better, but why you can enter the houses?
So far so good, the best: The Story is interesting a little fast phased but interesting and in all around I like that the heroes are apart and meet at some point.
Was fun to play and to read.
Besides those small stuff it looks good.

@DouxHC Thanks a lot. Yeah there are a few bugs to work out, and the Lamia isn't really that hard if you just let Zephyr guard and Unknown attack.
Once I finish the fourth chapter for Alara I shall add in a cutscene with Unknown talking to someone and explaining his entire origin...Which will spoil a few things..Oopsie xD

And yeah sure...I'd love to use your tress if possible.

I got the trees, thank you, I'm downloading GIMP and I shall be editing a few of the tilesets and possibly the weapon sets as well...just to personalize it like you said.

First off, besides all the things I already know are broken, the nun and the person telling you to go to the king as well as the dragon place holder which looks more realistic than everything else, what did you think? Secondly...How does one overcome writer's block? This is based off of a story I wished to write but instead decided to make it as a game.

Lastly...I would make some screenshots...but I'd need a better title screen, also I need to find some way to add in exploding crystals like in the older FF games but without collecting shards for new classes. Instead well...... 

You'll just have to wait and see what exploding Crystals do for you.

I love your KH referance in the first post and second i don't mind helping out where and when i can but i have managed(as it seems that i always do) overload myself with stuff to do because i get bored and want to do something... lol but i would love to help out

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
