It's been nearly 2 months since the last Daily Sketch Challenge. Hopefully I'm not overstepping my bounds :p

From chat:

13:38 Levi             someone give me a word

13:38 Perihelion   How much snow did you guys get, Des?

13:38 Levi            and a number between 0 and 21

13:38 Perihelion   blue 21

So I Google imaged "blue" and picked the 21st from the top.

Warning - Large image

So, for someone new here (myself), is it just a case of interpreting your blue concept picture, or do we draw the previous ideas, then blue?

Welcome! :D

This is just for fun and for motivation, so don't feel obligated to draw something for each of the 4 images. There are the 3 in the opening post, and then my blue one. You can draw an image for each of the 4, or any one of the four, or just start with the most recent one [my picture]. And don't feel limited either, you can take inspiration from the image in any way you like. We won't interrogate you :p There is no 'wrong' way to interpret an image.

Hopefully that is clearer. There are no strict 'rules' except that you have to spend 30 minutes or less making the drawing, and it should be at least marginally related to the "inspiration image"... but again, interpretation is a fluffy morphing thing open to interpretation... so we probably won't bug you about it.

Happy drawing!

I didn't anticipate how long it'd take to highlight and shade, and towards the end I started panicking... so it ended up pretty muddy. I'll definitely keep working on it. It was supposed to this harp in a meadow or something. :( Anyways, here it is.

Edit: If it isn't obvious, it's supposed to be a harp made out of a fat tree root.

EDIT!

I've done a bit more work on it.

That's a beautiful picture Archeia. It's a lovely inspiration. :)

I'm about to work on something for 30 minutes in a moment, after getting myself a warm drink.  I'll post the result soon :)

That lead on to this:-

And then on to this:-

Though honestly, I have no idea where I was going with that.

Interesting cross section of abilities here. Maybe I really should open a wormhole to the RMNverse here.

Greetings friends.  I believe there is an artist within each one of us and no matter the quality of the art we produce, we can learn from one another; can we do each other a favor and try to keep this topic active?  It would mean a lot.  With that being said, bear with me and tolerate the nonsense I upload as I am in the experimental phase, trying out new things which calls for some success and many many failures.  Thank you!

<<<< Here, I attempt a sketch in a very limited time.  Unfortunately, I could not figure out what it was that I wanted to do and that is normally not a good idea when applying a new tactic for the very first time.  Here I attempted many new things.  For starters, I wanted to attempt to use only one layer to sketch this.  Next, I started off trying to define some contrast for the background (normally I start with the character first).  After establishing some lighting and composition (well trying to), then I began to create the image in detail, as far as that goes.  Rather than the normal "penciler's approach" (as I like to call it), I tried the "painter's approach".  Maybe next time I'll think out my idea more thoroughly and nail something solid.  Cheers! >>>>

So many great artists here....

I had to delete my ´very first manga art´ from this post here (on my own decision ;) ) because it was just a practise art which was not realy worth so much. I kept on practising... Now I truly have finished a thing, which I am proud of for now:

Do you like it?

It´s not really manga, I know.... But what? :D

Maybe I will work on on this picture in future if I got time...

As much as we may dislike our art pieces, they are all valuable and never "not worth much" (double-negative?).  They teach us so much, especially when we progress and reflect back to those times.  I am glad that you have practiced until you completed a piece that you're very proud to share, because only through practice and experimentation, can we learn and improve.  Keep at it, as I stated earlier, we all can learn from one another.

<<Here is another sketch of mine where am I still working with the one-layer design.  Though digital, this is more of a 'pencil' creation than a 'painting'.  I still am bad at deciding what I want to do, I am still letting my mind run wild and hoping that something substantial is produced at the climax.  Cheers!>>

Nice, a Halloween theme.  It's just nice to see some activity in this thread albeit minimal.

I have another sketch that I really wanted to do something grand with it, but I ended up just dropping it altogether:

Uchiha_MadaraSKETCH.png

Here I wasn't trying to really do anything new; if you look at his armor however, you'll realize that on his right shoulder (our left), that piece is garnished with a metallic texture, whereas the same does not apply for his left shoulder (our right).  This was intentional because I thought it'd look nifty--- however, now in retrospect, I can see that it wasn't as brilliant as I thought it'd be hahaha.

Wow, almost a whole month without activity.  I certainly wish I could draw more, but I have a bad habit of leaving my projects unfinished, and upon revisiting later, the initial vigor is no longer there.  So I think what's best for me now is to do smaller, and less time consuming pieces for the time being:

Yep, a key... That's it.  I did say smaller and simplistic  right!  Actually, to be fair, it's TWO keys -- the other is there to help complete the illusion I suppose...

Work in progress. I never drew a lot before, and I'm regretting that now. I'm struggling with lighting and this is just cel shading.

I really need to train more and learn how to draw properly with a tablet, so anything is a good exercise, haha.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
