Kind of wish I could delete my previous post and replace it with this one ... but oh well.

Ugh, well, the self-imposed deadline is only two days away, and I am honestly not going to be able to finish up chapter one in that time. Every time I corrected or finished one section, two areas requiring my attention seemed to pop up. So frustrating. I feel as though I am barely making any progress, and that is rather disheartening.

So, I am going to release what I have so far, instead. Please keep in mind that I have been rushing, and not everything has been tested or even functions. There is plenty of spaghetti code I tossed in to make something work and has yet to be finalized.

There are only three functioning areas in Rakar, and the only creature which is currently balanced and working is in place. So, if anyone wants to check that out ... test away. I almost feel as though I am creating an interactive story with how much dialog and cutscenes I have been putting in ... and I am not even finished with what I have planned.

If anyone wants to give some feedback, that would be much appreciated.

I really do like how this looks. You put a lot of work into making this, and it shows.

However, I do appear to be stuck. As you said, not everything is tested. I've gotten stuck at the first battle that occurs in the game. The enemy troop was a gelatinous skeleton, gelatinous cube, and gelatinous mage guy. Every time I tried attacking the cube or mage either with magic or regular attack, it would ALWAYS be deflected to the skeleton soldier one. Once that unit was dead, the mage would instantly revive him. Perhaps I'm missing something (I did go a bit fast through the intro), or perhaps this is one of the things untested? Either way the graphics of the game are really amazing.

Actually, the battle is working as intended. I wanted the cube to have a 'party', of sorts. So, whenever the cube is at low health, the 'tank' skeleton will use Cover to protect its gelatinous master (perhaps that action should be more visible, or the display text be more specific?). Whenever the 'tank' dies, either the cube or the 'mage' skeleton will try and revive their fallen 'party member' unless both are out of MP, which can actually happen.

There is a trick to winning the battle which I have included below, if you are curious. I wanted a battle where the answer was more than spamming the attack button and/or most powerful skill until the monster is dead.

Strategy (Spoiler) :

There is always (or should always be) a one turn window to deal damage to the cube before the tank is revived. Or, if you can Stun or Paralyze the tank (land Arcane Fury -- the upgraded arcane mark -- then use 'Sigil : Break' to expend the Arcane Fury to apply the Paralyze status), Cover no longer functions, and you can pummel the cube until the status wears off. Now, I really have not explained each skill in detail within the help text (or within this thread), and that is certainly a problem. I hope to expand player knowledge of each skill in the future.
Also, if you kill the cube, both the 'tank' and the 'mage' will perish as well (the cube functions as a gelatinous puppet master, essentially ... perhaps that's what I should rename the monster to).

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
