Hey everyone!
So, first off, TL;DR:

Much longer description:
So, this is a game I've been working on in RPGmaker. I've screwed around with tiny things before, but this is my first real effort. If all goes well, I'd like to submit it to the contest this month. That means I have half a month to finish it off entirely, which I think is more than feasible.
In its final form, it will be a very long game. Think early dragon warrior titles. In its current iteration, though, and for the contest, since they want it to be just about an hour, I'm only going to do the first village and dungeon areas. The player won't get to the overworld at all; rather, the demo will end at exactly the point where they WOULD step into the overworld to travel to the next town.
Right now, it features a few cinematics, a forest area where the player has to do a few small objectives (and there's a sidequest with drops based there as well), and finally, a bandit cave where the final boss (and a few other things) await. Like I said above, it's about 40-60 minutes as it stands - 40 if you rush and are very objective-focused, and 60 if you grind and/or explore.
Speaking of exploration, I do have a number of things to find around the village for the astute, just like in old-school RPGs. As I continue to update it, I'll be making most of the background objects (like cabinets, bookshelves, etc) interactable, but as for right now, some of them are. Check out bookshelves especially - many actually have real, readable books in them!
The demo ends a little short of where it will ultimately end. What's left to do is take a trip up to the temple, prepare briefly for your trip to the next town, and choose your third party member - Kyra, or an as-yet unmet priest-in-training.
I believe it's largely bug-free, but I'm sure I'm wrong about that. Haha. Do let me know if you find anything, and I'll fix it right up. There are likely some textual/visual bugs floating around that I have yet to eradicate, but I believe that I've gotten rid of all of the game-breaking ones. Make sure to save reasonably often, though, in case I haven't.
In any case, guys, I'd really appreciate feedback. Keep in mind I want to polish it up quite a bit - like I said, I'd like to enter it in that contest. So any recommendations for that would be dandy. All feedback, good and bad is appreciated. I want to know what you found fun, but also what you thought sucked!
Thanks all!
