There are quite a few.
For one, I really love the old, classic 8-bit and 16-bit games.
Like, I really love Mario Bros.; it was the first game I ever owned. (actually it was the Mario Bros./Duck Hunt combo pack)
I also love the old, pre-Final Fantasy games. Did you know, Rad Racer was also made by Square?
I could list all of my favorite NES games, but that's a long list, so I'll name my top 20.
Mario Bros./2/3/Lost Levels
Final Fantasy/II
Blue Marlin
Excitebike
Rad Racer (the second one wasn't as fun as the first)
Tetris (I've also played the harder arcade version which also incorporated a second player)
Dr. Mario (It's no different in the arcade)
Duck Hunt (you can beat round 100)
Metroid
Casino Kid
Skulls and Crossbones (though it's VERY hard)
Marble Madness (play it in the arcade! I recommend it)
Megaman/II/III/IV/V (just for the action and overall gameplay)
Milon's Castle (one of the HARDEST RPG's I've ever played)
Pipe Dream (a puzzle game similar to Tetris)
Final Fantasy VII (a hacked software only available as a rom anymore)
Yeah, that should cover that list.
I have a ton of faves from SNES and Genesis as well, so I'll list forty, maybe of my top faves.
Sonic/2/3/Spinball (Spinball is insanely hard)
Super Mario Kart (the GBA version I like more)
Super Mario World/2
Kaizo Mario (Re-made SMW to be next to impossible, and frustrating as Hell)
Final Fantasy IV,V,VI (yes I know V was never released in US)
Chrono Trigger
Rock 'N' Roll Racing (The GBA version is better)
Hyperzone (an endless game)
Tetris and Dr. Mario (if you love either game then you would've picked this up too)
Aladdin (the first game I had when I owned an SNES)
Super Bomberman/2 (I've always had a love for these games though I'm not sure why)
Sailor Moon: Another Story (also known as Sailor Moon RPG)
Most of those were SNES games; right now some dumbass outside my bedroom is shouting at Odin knows what, and I cannot think straight.
Oh, yes, I love Atari games too. I've played a lot of them, and their later reincarnations as well.
Like Frogger. At one point, I was really good at it. Not so much on the reincarnation for the Play Station.
Hmmm...I love the old 32-bit games too, though I never really played much on Sega Saturn.
Some of my top faves on the Sony Play Station...(in no particular order)
Final Fantasy VII (it is one interesting, and complicated to fc game)
Tony Hawks' Pro Skater/2 (the second one introduced the Park Editor which I've always loved)
RPG Maker (they made something like 4,000 copies to be shipped to the US so it is quite a rare gem)
Gran Turismo/2 (some great music is on the second game including a Stone Temple Pilots song)
Ridge Racer/Revolution (a really great arcade style racing game)
Twisted Metal/2/III/4 (though the Twisted Metal Team left after 2-it was still overall a great series)
(Also, Twisted Metal III and 4 included a lot of great music, including several Rob Zombie tracks, and one from Sköld)
Final Fantasy Anthology - V/VI (though the translation to English for V did leave something to be desired, that and the graphics glitch that occurred every now and then when going to the save menu would corrupt your save files)
Casper (the mansion exploring game where you find morphs and try to make friends with the new guests)
Driver 2 (the game gets really hard close towards the end)
Intelligent Qube (the game where you mark spaces and clear incoming cubes while avoiding the ebony cubes)
Irritating Stick (you guide an electrified rod through a steel maze in a similar-to-Operation fashion-don't touch the sides!)
Medal of Honor/Underground (a first person shooter-you play through campaigns as designed to emulate World War II events)
Tenchu Shinobi Gaisen (the NTSC/J version with Mission Editor)
Akuji the Heartless (an adventure game that is bloody and brutal much like God of War)
Felony 11-79 (a driving game in which the more you destroy, the more money you earn and you can drive all sorts of wacky vehicles like dump trucks, city buses and even a Vespa scooter)
I think that's enough of a list.
When it comes down to the next generation, I'm more fond of Sony than any other, though there were some N64, GC, Xbox and some DS games I came to like.
As for the N64, I'm not too fond of it overall because of the controller design, but there were some great games I enjoyed playing.
The Gamecube's controller design was much more practical, making gaming that much better.
The Xbox swapped the d-pad and the left joystick locations, basically separating it from a PS2 controller (though at the time it only had two shoulder buttons rather than the PS2's four).
I didn't play the DS until much later, but for the fact that there are two screens to deal with, there were a lot of games I enjoyed.
As for the list of games themselves...
PS2:
The Guitar Hero series (I absolutely love Guitar Hero, love to sing Vocals even more)
Gran Turismo 4, Tourist Trophy (both are really fun and challenging games but I'm better at Tourist Trophy)
Spy Hunter (really hard until you get used to the controls and the gameplay but worth getting a 100% completion)
(The metal band Saliva made several contributions to the game)
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3/4 (the custom skaters are a great addition and the park editor is greatly improved)
Tony Hawk's Underground/2 (custom skaters and parks are even better, plus the ability to make your own tricks and goals is introduced)
(the soundtracks from all Tony Hawk games are super; Metallica contributed 'Whiplash' to Underground 2)
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (the first seamless-no loading screen skating game in the series)
(a lot of songs were covered by other artists)
Midnight Club/2/3-Remix (Street racing games are always fun)
Xbox:
Halo
Forza (though I like Gran Turismo more)
There are others, but none come to mind at the moment.
I think I'll end the faving here, simply because I don't want to take up a lot of room.
So, I'll end this with a question. What are your faves?
And if you have questions for me, feel free to ask. Unlike some people, I'm okay with being asked questions of any manner, and I'll do my best to answer them.
If you're going to ask for cheats/cheat codes for games, I'll reply via Private Message, since I don't want to clutter the forum board with a slightly unrelated topic.
Well, thanks for reading! Sorry it was a long one. lol
