Can't see your demons again? Yeah I'm not paying full price for the same old thing. Thanks for saving me some time and money:)

Same old thing? What?!

STEVEN is back! We haven't seen him for two games.

You can't possibly say that that's the same old thing.

Holy ****, Steven, huh? Odd to see him with grey hair, he was some sort of ghost in SMT2, wasn't he?

On that note, could SMT4 be an alternate sequel to SMT1 that follows a different ending?

At the beginning of the game, there's actually a monument that talks about how warriors used gauntlets to control demons.

Maybe the world had some sort of reset, sort of like Devil Survivor 2's Neutral ending. This series' world just get more and more interesting with each iteration.

Also, 1 hour of English gameplay of SMT 4:

Kazuma Kaneko is doing scenarios again as usual and the new composer is doing a damn good job representing SMT at it's finest.

Mixing old-school with new-school, literally. Very slick, Atlus.

Crap, just beat Dante with only my MC standing at 6hp, lol. Took a gamble on a physical skill since he was spamming provoke and it dropped me to 6, but he was still standing. One more regular attack and he went down.

I've never built a physical MC since I hate the hp drain. Anyone else have any big problems with that?

When Dante casts Provoke, just spam all of your attack skills.

I never had a problem with my MC doing physical attacks since I usually have a healer on hand like Uzume or Daisoujou.

Have you gotten the Focus skill yet? It's pretty necessary if you're going with a physical build with the Demifiend.

Yeah, that's what I did in that fight plus phy res Magitama, but he still tore me a new one since my guy is Mag-based. Optimizing my crew for four boss fights in a row left me with very few options too, lol. Still, I beat him on the first try. I had to fight Thor twice and I tell ya, going through that whole sequence again is a pain in the ass. Though I guess they didn't want to put a save point in and have people get stuck. Brutal game one way or another.

I remember I played my Strange Journey guy like he's Phy-based and kept a power healer in the party, but I don't remember if any of his attacks actually drained his hp.

Yeah for some reason all skills used MP in Strange Journey. It was a bit irking since physical based demons couldn't break out their skills near enough whenever they wanted... Though I guess it helped minimize HP loss, but I digress.

Yeah, I really don't have the money for SMT 4 and a 3ds. It's really a drain on the enthusiasm.

I think this is about as far as I got before on Nocturne before I distracted myself on my last playthrough of P3. Like going back to Phantasy Star 2, it really is a painful experience. The mechanics haven't aged well compared to the bounding strides the series has made since. Every time I run into an encounter after literally five steps, juggle some of the more unintuitive menu functions or try to remember the results of analysis I think of how I could be playing P3 or P4 instead. :3

Well this is annoying... I have a 3DS AND money to buy at least 4 copies of SMT4!

Son of a gum chewing funk monster,
Why the fruit does all this funny stuff happen to me?
Forget my life!
Always surrounded by miserable failing clauds!
Like this whole world just likes to bend me over, and find my in the alps!
Like I'm some sort of slut resciptical,
Well as far as I care,
these miserable cows can have a fancy barbeque, with a God damn pig!!

Sorry about that... ¬_¬

I.. uh.

I got bored, I guess. I had nothing else to do, and decided to enter in Destructoid's contest for winning a copy of SMT4.
Good job man. I've never played SMT 1 or 2 (assuming that's a screen from one of those games?) so for a second I thought that was legit. Silly me!

I picked up my pre-order copy of SMT4 the other day! Haven't had a chance to play it, but at least flipped through the booklet that came with it... A bit disappointed with the fact it's mostly a strategy guide, rather than an art book (I'd have liked to see a feeeeew monsterrrrsss) but I'm sure once I actually start, I'll appreciate the strategy guide more! It has a fusion chart in the back that looks beastly.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I'll be honest, Nocturne is the high point for me, and it probably won't be another Nocturne and that's okay. At least on the gameplay side, it's probably going to be a lot more fun to play.

I've heard some complaints (from Nocturne fans) about the bursts being a little out of control in combat. Pentagon, let us know about this when you get a chance to play.

Haha, a lot of the new players have been having trouble with the first tutorial dungeon. They just throw you in there, no demons, and have anything that isn't an ally kill you.

Atlus gets off on our tears.

The strat guide doesn't seem that disappointing compared to that thing they call a soundtrack CD. SSDS IV is the only decent track worth listening to.

I mean, ****, they didn't even include the best battle theme in the game.

Observe and be amazed!

I broke down and watched that gameplay video and now I want to play it really badly. :(

Looks way more like a sequel to Strange Journey which is strange.

I took the time to progress through Nocturne this week.

Finally beat the Obelisk, but screw that damn Moirae Sisters puzzle. How was I suppose to know that you were suppose to do it in

one go...

I also got past the Second Kalpa and beat the White Rider in Ginza. Not too bad, I just spammed the **** out of Sukukaja and he kept wasting turns with Dekaja, misses, and voids. Will probably fight the other Riders next.

I really dig how the game just presents its story in small chunks and you have to piece everything together. The Labyrinth of Amala really helps with the missed details like Hikawa's past or the explanation of the Amala Network.

Started Digital Devil Saga yesterday and it's really quite interesting. I'm also pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to grind in that game~ Going for a magic build with Serph as well.

I never actually played Digital Devil, I always got confused by which release was the collection or individual games and never bothered.

Labyrinth of Amala was actually added for the special Maniax edition of Nocturne in Japan which was the version we got; it's tough to imagine it not being a part of the game. I guess there was also a later version of Maniax that has Raidou instead of Dante with Goto doing all the talking. :3

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
