DDS 1&2 was released separately. I believe it was because the original writer of the game got sick or something at the middle of development.
DDS1 is awesome. Serph is great as a magic user. Give him some Devour skills too, because you're going to be doing a lot of it and you'll need it to gain the later skills in the Mantra grid. If you manage to not spoil yourself, DDS2 will be extremely more awesome.
