The idea forum

So, I like talking about concepts and ideas and i was happy to see a forum called ideas and prototypes.

That is until I read the rules on posting there. 3 days before posts show up? Really seems overbearing. I can agree to guidelines but as restrictive as the rules are there is only room for commentary on developed ideas and no room for actively brainstorming concepts.

Im aware of and disinterested in being shuffled into one thread. Its not easy to stay on a topic when everyones topic is jammed in. Might as well delete the posts and send a middle finger to the poster. There is no reason not to have a board just for these threads.

I have no problem posting my ideas elsewhere but i thought id give my 0.02

I think you have misunderstood the whole thing about 3 days. That is something that is found on several of the forums, and it is only to get the thread approved (i.e. checked that it follows the Rules and Guidelines and is posted in the correct place). Once the thread has been approved there is no delay in subsequent posts, as you will see if you have a look at the threads already there.

It also does not take 3 days to approve a thread. It takes UP to 3 days. If the moderator of that area happens to be online and reads your thread 5 minutes after you submit it, then it could be approved 5 minutes after you submit it. The 3 days is because everyone who moderates this forum has real jobs and real lives and does not spend every waking hour here. It is to stop people whining that "my thread hasn't been approved and I submitted it a whole half hour ago!"

Plus I think you've missed the forums "General Discussion" and "Game Mechanics Design" which are both used for brainstorming individual elements if you don't have a whole game worked out yet.

There's also the thread "Ideas That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread" inside the "Ideas and Prototypes" forum, if you don't have sufficient information to meet the thread posting guidelines within Ideas and Prototypes. But maybe that's what you're talking about when you reference "being shuffled into one thread".

Basically, there ARE places for discussions about ideas that are being actively brainstormed.

Mine didn't even take a day to shows up. Granted, it wasn't showed in new thread sidebar, but I can always up it on status update.
