First off, I paid 10$ to get some new interesting plugins from Yanfly on itch.io and some of them didn't work at all, and I can't even contact him.
I've especially wanted the newer version of the MessageCore, yet it had the same problem as the old free version.

Anyhow, here's what it says in the YEP_MessageCore.js Plugin Manager HELP box:
Plugin Command;
MessageRows 6
- "Changes the Message Rows displayed to 6. If you are using continuous
Show Text events, this will continue displaying the following lines's
texts until it hits the row limit. Anything after that is cut off until
the next message starts to avoid accidental overlap."

All he talks about here is how the "text will cut off". I had that part figured out, so no problem.
But the real problem is that when adding the Plugin Command "MessageRows 12" in a specific EVENT or any higher number, the number "12" (or higher) will get stuck in that row number and ignore the row number inside the plugin itself in the Plugin Manager which is set to "8" - causing entirely other Events with Choice Lists and Input Number commands to block the character on mid-screen and ruins the text messages in it and in every other event.

As one little Message Row command in one specific event gets stuck on a number and forces itself on all other events than what it was set as a default in the Plugin Manager, as I tried making "MessageRows" Plugin Commands with lowered numbers in each of every other event did not solve the problem. The Plugin gets stuck with commands with a higher number ignoring the other "MessageRows" plugin commands with lowered numbers.

Is there a fix for this?

What version do you have?

It works perfectly in my events. Here's a fragment of my cutscene and I haven't any problem.

what is the order of your yanfly plugins in the plugin manager?

yanfly's plugins have to be in a specific order (the one on his website) to function correctly, and it is known that they can cause strange behaviour in the engine by only partially working if they are in the wrong order.

Agreed, I can't duplicate your bug. I slapped this into my project:
rows.png
and it works exactly as expected.

You should go through the standard troubleshooting steps - confirm your plugins are in the order listed on Yanfly's site. Make sure all the rest of your plugins are also the latest version. Make sure your project is the latest MV version. Test it with all plugins except the Message Core turned off. Test it in a new project.

And just my opinion - your thread title and the tone of your post comes off as vaguely rude. Yes, there are bugs in a few Yanfly products, and yes, there isn't a way to get customer support anymore. But just throwing out the accusation of an ignored problem with a prominent feature of the plugin when I don't see threads about anyone else having the issue is a bit aggressive.

But just throwing out the accusation of an ignored problem with a prominent feature of the plugin when I don't see threads about anyone else having the issue is a bit aggressive.

Sorry, I was just a little upset because the seller has limited all the communications with his customers (which is something I would not do myself). I think it's obvious that anyone would certainly get upset about something like this.

Don't the message row adjusts, much like the text color changes etc, work until you change them again? Did you try setting the rows back to what you want at the end of your event?

Edit: I might be mistaken, but that's what I remember from when I used them.

As we assumed - your yanfly plugins are in completely the wrong order.
please correct that order according to the list on yanfly's website (top to bottom) and then test again.

please keep in mind that changing the plugin order that way will make your existing savegames incompatible, you'll need to start a new playtestgame after that.

Doesn't the message row effects, much like the text color changes etc, work until you change them again? Did you try setting the rows back to what you want at the end of your event?

Yes, I placed message rows commands with lower numbers at the end of the events, but it still did not work. A message row command with a higher number will get stuck on that number and ignore all the other message rows with lower numbers and even the default message row number in the plugin manager.

You can't really say that unless you're in the same situation (being constantly asked for assistance and to fix bugs when the real issue is that the person hasn't used the plugin correctly).


If you update plugins make sure you go back in and re-check all the parameters. If there are any new ones, or old ones were removed, the settings you entered might have been messed up.

Also make sure, if the plugin uses any switches or variables, that you have given them names and not accidentally used them for something else. That is a common problem too, and if you have your plugins out of order, then using variables the plugins want for something else is a likely other issue you might run into.

Okay, got it.
I've read the rules, so I have an additional question about a different Plugin called "LNM_GameTime" that I need some help with. Should I get help here in this thread or can I make a new thread?

(Short brief: The Plugin's in-game Time System is running, but the Tints are not working. Found a video but did not explain the issue.)

If your question is a different topic, logically it should have another thread.

And just because you've said it multiple times:
a higher number will...ignore...the default message row number in the plugin manager.
That is exactly the point. When you change any game setting via a plugin command, it should stay changed. That is the meaning of default - what something is without other instructions.

If you give instructions to be different than the default setting, the game will and should follow those instructions until you set them back.

If you fixed the order of your plugins, like Andar and I suggested in posts 3 and 4 before you posted any screenshots, did that fix the issue? If not, did you try the rest of the troubleshooting steps I listed for you?

I fixed the order. Core Plugins on top, everything else on the bottom, as instructed.
The problem remained the same, but the only way to fix the issue was by placing the "MessageRows" Plugin Command to "8" (the same no. as the default) above the last text message in an event so that it will not get stuck on "14" to other events. I don't like it, but I guess this minor fix I made will have to do, cuz I have more major things to consider working on to get my project done.
