Well I am assuming this was written before you managed to leave with Corran to Vincia.

In our minds as developers Daryl is a Mage.  his standard weapon attack is meant to not be very powerful.  Same with Naomi later on.  His simple primary nuke early game is Arcane Bolt.  He is designed is to play more like a mage from World of Warcraft or FFXI not attacking with their melee weapon unless in dire need.  The game is balance around using abilities more to do damage.  The basic attack for Corran and our other physical Characters later in the game are much stronger and worth using, but they are balanced around using them and their mechanics are tied into using them more regularly.

Thanks again for the feed back.
OK, cool. As I mentioned in some earlier posts, at that point I wasn't really able to do much more past the Find Charles quest, so any battles I was in was solo (just the main character), so if he's mainly a magic-user, but other members he teams-up with (like the Captain dude) are more of a fighter, then I can see that they would be stronger in their own areas of fighting-skills accordingly.  By the time I found Charles, because of so many random-encounters, I was level 4 by then, so I only "skipped/ escaped" a few of the random-encounters after fighting through around a dozen random encounters (, plus my health and magic was getting fairly low, and as mentioned before, those "save-crystals" seemed a fair distance apart, especially considering the high-random-encounter rate that I experience, so it seemed within every few steps I took in the forest there was some Slime wanting to gnaw on me, and after a while it was getting a bit... tedious).  Good luck with your project.

I like how u said that the slimes wanted to gnaw on you! Lol um.... yeah we might consider lowering the rate a hair. I can see it being too high for those that explore.

In fact ive been considering adding something special for the explorers to the forest ;)

Lol nice! Well let me know what you think as you continue the demo! Thanks Jef.

Hey guys, step two is done, start the game! I'm stuck already, but I only just got to the school. So quick feedback before I restart the game.

Spelling and grammar check is essential. There were I believe, three spelling and grammatical errors in the intro description where the text scrolls up. Decent instead of Descent was the one I managed to write down, but two others I couldn't find.

Just put your text through microsoft word or something to make sure the grammar is right as well.

As for why I'm stuck, I got to the top floor of the school where there's boxes you can move. I guess I "tried" to break the game so once I passed the boxes, I slid the box back and blocked my own path, which of course got me stuck. Once it's in the right position you might want to make it permanent, or make it so the player can move it another way to get him unstuck. Anyway, I'll keep plugging at the game! My only criticism so far is that the intro felt very fast.

Thanks, Seita!

I never even thought about the boxes on the top floor being able to trap the player.

I agree about the grammar and that is a good tip! I've got open office so I suppose that'll have to do. =P

I'm glad you are taking your time with finding the small stuff as well as some major things, that's always really helpful! :D

Made some changes to the main post!

Changed the layout slightly and also added some more Screen Shots!

Let us know what y'all think.

Also, I'm looking for some more input in later parts of the demo. I've gotten a lot of great feedback for the beginning of the game but I'd like hear what anyone thinks about the 2nd and 3rd dungeons AND story line progression!

Lets us know what you like and especially dislike!

Thanks as always!

Hey Seita and Jef!

I'm still here! I'm alive! =P

Sorry, just been busy with life at the moment and took a short break from development!

I'm still working on polishing areas and adding more interactions in the world and we are nearing another demo release hopefully in the next couple weeks that should be compatible with saves from the most recent demo release.

Also, I hope to get with Corban (Saberwolfcdw) and do another VLOG in the near future.

@seita I do plan on hopping on your live stream once I get some more free time! :D

The forest effects were very nice. I love the lighted sprite effects. The demo was all pretty good, and the balance of monsters while fighting solo was handled fairly well. While I haven't played very many VXA games so far, I'd rank this up their as one of the better designed games I've played so far, along with Princess Princess and Crysalis.

Other than the tiny bits of spelling and tile placement all seems well so far. Well, except for maybe one part. For some reason when fighting the Head Priest, he stays nearly invincible even when you defeat his skeletal minions in the second fight. Not to mention that he doesn't attack or defend himself during the fight. I managed to kill him and continue to the part where everyone wants to go to Venus. Although, it's taken a long time. Not sure if this is something only on my end or not. The first time I quit, thinking I had maybe just got unlucky or something. I went to F12 so that I'd reload from the Crystal right before Brand's boss room. Though when I did I got an error of some kind. Something to do with Khas Awesome Light Effects. The game's a blast thus far and will keep you posted if I run into anything else.

Great Feedback!

That boss is supposed invulnerable until you defeat the minions SO I'm wondering if maybe the game bugged and didn't run the event to change him back to normal... I haven't ran into this problem myself but I'll check into it more!

As far as the crash, that is also something new I'll have to look into! I've used that save a number of times during tests and haven't had an issue... but again, I'll look into it!

Thanks Kain Omega! I'm glad you are enjoying the game so far! Updates are coming in the near future after I stop obsessing over E3  and get back on track with development =P

Hey guys and gals,

Hope y'all are doing well!

We have been taking a little break in development over the past few weeks.  We are planning on starting back up this week or next.

On a different note.  I am currently requesting some feedback from anyone that has gotten all the way through the current Demo (through The Tower of Venus).

Specifically, I am wanting to know how the balance of the game felt at the later stages.  What monsters are too hard or too easy? what character skills are too strong or too weak?  are you finding the combat fun? if not, what part or skills?

Please let me know on the forum what your experience has been and how you think it could improved.

Thanks again for all the great feedback so far!

Corban

Lots of time on my hands at the moment, so I'm going to see what I can find. Re-downloaded the game & started a new save to see if I can replicate the above errors as well. Once I get caught back up to where I previously was I'll make a list of what I've found on here if it helps. :)

(Not sure if spelling is that important but thought I'd put it here anyway. Each one has a note as to where they occur before a semicolon.)

Also some of these may already have been mentioned, but listed them anyway.

[spelling] The Magi Era Intro; "worlds" should be "world's" or "worlds'".
[spelling] The Magi Era Intro; "stuborn" is spelled "stubborn".
[spelling] The Magi Era Intro; "decent" is suppose to be "descent".
[spelling] Daryl Waking Up; "everytime" is two words. May have missed a space?
[Access] Access to Synthesis not possible in main menu at beginning, but is through the "Item" menu. (There's a class menu access too. Not sure if intentional.)
[spelling] Cotton Robe Description; "cotten" is spelled "cotton".
[bug] Save game doesn't have Location names. Instead, it is always blank.
[bug] Save games list blank variables.
[spelling] Friasia Teleport Statue; "errected" is spelled "erected".
[Missing] Town houses/Outside school area has no location popup. (Seen everywhere else on top left of screen when entering. Not sure if matters.)
[spelling] Help From Counselor; "your" should be "you're".
[Design] School of Magic 3rd floor box puzzle has enough space to accidentally trap the player. (Adding box to left of last pushable box should fix this.)
[Design] School of Magic 3rd floor shelves placed flat against wall (top left of map) look a little strange.
[Missing] Principal is missing a name box when saying that Charles' parents will 'appriciate' the effort.
[spelling] Kain Is Volunteered; "appriciate" is spelled "appreciate".
[spelling] Save Crystal Tutorial; "replentish" is spelled "replenish".
[spelling] Battle Tutorial; "progess" is spelled "progress".
[Missing] Area name popup for Frina Forest maps. (Again, not sure if matters in certain areas.)
[spelling] Ignite; "damge" is spelled "damage". No period or has extra spaces (Ice spell) like some descriptions were rushed.
[spelling] Meeting Corran; "nineth" is spelled "ninth".
[RGSS] Let's go see your father; As you're about to transfer to your house. Seems to only occur when you use F12 to restart the game & load a save as I ran into this error every time I did so.
"Script 'Khas Awesome Light Effects' line 263: RGSSError occured. disposed bitmap" (previous error I mentioned.)
[Design] Weapon shop crates look like part of the wall. (Like the 3rd floor of the school.)
[spelling] Your first recipe; "Its" should be "it's".
[Missing] Synthesis Dealer missing name box during Synthesis Turotial.
[Design] Synthesis Tutorial; With controls subject to change, saying to press "X" may be confusing.
[spelling] Tutorial enters Synthesis menu; "it's" should be "its".
[spelling] Selecting Container; "Ingregients" is spelled "Ingredients".
[spelling] Mixing Agent Selection; "Thats" is spelled "That's".
[spelling] Explaining Synth. Traits; "tait" is spelled "trait".
[spelling] Buying from Synthesis Dealer; "intrests" is spelled "interests".
[Exploit] Hi-Potion ingredients cost less than what the resulting item sells for, meaning infinite Lucre. (Kind of exploited this myself, but nothing severely game changing it would do at this point. Later in game maybe another story.)

This is just before I've actually told Corran I'm ready to leave. I remember a few mishaps at the school and will get to them as well. Again, if spelling's not important, let me know so I can leave them out for more important things. I'm being a little through is why I'm not too far but I'll have more. Everything else is great though.
Edit: Used Spoiler tags to avoid unnecessary, well... spoilers for those who have yet to play it.

Wow, Kain, I'm impressed!

Me and my buddy (saberwolfcdw) went through and corrected most of the issues you listed, though some where fixed previously but just were not part of the demo you have.

There is only a couple we couldn't figure out which were the Khas Script Error with F12 load and the location information in the save menu.

Thanks a ton and keep it coming if you can! We definitely appreciate it!

If it's going to be long it's alright to send me a PM if you'd like to avoid any spoilers for those who haven't played.

I like that you are taking your time with each individual thing.

We hope to release an updated Demo soon that will include any testers who help with development in the credits!

I should realize that error was produced by a outdated version of MZ so that's why it pop up like that
