Yeah, I kinda got the vibe that you were someone you could take some constructional criticism. : )


In all honesty, I think you should look at revamping the status screen entirely to something that's more functional for your own game. The script you are using is nice, but it shows a lot of info that is largely irrelevant. I don't think people pay too much attention to all those percent numbers and things for a battle system such as this. (I could be wrong tho, perhaps other people could agree or disagree with that)


Perhaps think about what is actually important in your mind to show on a status screen, design something around that and see if someone can help you build what you need to work with your main menu. Because I do agree with you, thinking what to write in the biography section could be troublesome and it is better to give out information about the characters through the gameplay.

And again, you're very welcome. A lot of great things are happening in this project, so ironing out the little things will help make a very solid game. I'll let you know what I think of the rest of the demo when I get a chance to play it. I did, however, beat the boss that was erroring on me with the new download link. Thanks!

The changes are very nice, I like the tall sprites.

Here's a small mistake I've found (for now):

He shrunk? Oh and also the other summoned badguy is short too. XD

I played up until the Venus tower quest and I have to say I was impressed with the story and structure.  I liked the direction, and didn't feel lost of confused for a new world.

There are a few things I wanted to touch on.  When the priest says "Get Prepared to Die", I think it might be better to say "Get ready to Die" or "Prepare to Die".

I would recommend you look at the town's construction and consider widening the houses as they seem like shacks or sheds compared to the size of the 64x32 sprites visually, that is just my opinion.

Daryl's dream with the dragon made little sense at the time, I can assume this means a foreshadowing but I didn't quite get what I was suppose to take away from that other than his father was in immediate danger.

For Cor, his TP system seems grossly weaker in comparison to magic of the other two characters.  In order for him to shell out enough damage in comparison I felt it would take 180 TP gained to be on level with Daryl.  Given the title of the game, it isn't surprising he outshines his physical counterpart.  Given it's such a high number of TP, 18 attacks and most battles don't last that long; I feel he was more of someone to just be taunting and using defensive skills.  It's odd because in the demo he uses a two handed axe and I didn't see any shield for him to use.  So I considered he'd be primarily used for offensive attacks rather than a tank.

Keeping a spoiler tag on for people who haven't played with my main gripe of the story:

The use of magic seems very liberal, in a comical sense at first and then it is shown as something very dark.  You had the teacher using spark to discipline a student what I assume is the same spell the BBEG guy was using on the roof of the chapel.  Brand's betrayal and sudden redemption didn't quite make sense to me.  He gave way to the evil in his heart, but that is his own decision.  It feels like a co op to forgive him because his plan didn't work after he sided with the BBEG.  That just seems like poor judgement after so many people died because of his decision.
The music is ultimately a VERY big portion of the game.  I see you compressed it all to .ogg but it's still 3/4 of the file size here.  Have you considered trimming the songs length down and convert them to looping, or is the sheer number of the files just what's taking up most of the data?  This is what made me on the fence for downloading and I had to wait till I had a better connection before I could consider trying this.  I am glad I did.

So what you've played so far is still very much alpha/WIP (obviously =P). I would like to say that some of your concerns with story line and dialogue will be addressed in the next major update! But to clear up some confusion I'll explain some stuff.

Spoiler Alert!

So the main bad guy (The Dark Lord) was able to basically take control of Brand because he (Brand) had evil desires. He was no longer himself. The reason they were able to forgive him was basically because when he was defeated, The Dark Lord's presence left him. Then, when that happened (and this is somewhat explained in dialogue) the evil aura in that area weakens, this is why the Teleport statues start working again. Brand is now himself again, realizes the terrible things he had done, and tells everyone he must leave on a pilgrimage to cleanse himself of any evil desires. So yes it was somewhat his fault but (and maybe I can do a better job explaining this) the group can accept the fact he was taken advantage of and used as a tool for evil. Oh and the spell The Dark Lord uses in Vincia is a different spell, but I understand the confusion. I want to change maybe the color of the bolts and the affects some to make his magic look a little more dark to show that there's a clear difference in using magic in a "good" way, versus "bad."
As far as the file size, that should decrease with time as well and right now I have a lot of music and graphics just dumped in the folders that I need to sort, organize and most of all remove unneeded files. I understand file size to be a constraint for some/a lot of people so I will work towards shrinking it. 

I will bring up with my buddy Saberwolfcdw, who is in charge of overall balance of battles, about the issues with Corran. He is meant to be a tank, but can be played as either DD, or both. We may increase the ATK on 2 Handed Weapons and offer more choices for Single Handed Weapons and Shields so the player can decide how to use him.

Anyway he looks badass, he reminds me about Ghaleon from Lunar (one of my favourite videogame villains).

Sure! It might be a bit cliché... Or generic. But, i dont expect everyone to like the game. The only thing I can say is we are going to make what we can as original as possible (within our own creativity and ability) and as fun for others as we can. :)

Well the age is alright - it seems most rpg's have the heroes even younger, like 16.

While I'd like to play someone in their mid twenties, middle aged, or even elderly for a change I can see why you would do that.

If they were older I'd imagine them having seen some of the world already and at a decent level.

But for dark lord, I think it has been used so many times that it doesn't sound so intimidating anymore.

But it's your game, and it doesn't seem to have bothered anyone else.
