The Monster is You

Long ago ...

 

Slimes were first created.

 

Then they learned to multiply.

 

And the people would raise arms against them to deplete their number. For they knew the reason.

 

Kill the slimes.

 

Destroy the slimes.

 

Until they no longer remembered the why.

 

So when kingdoms and peoples fall, they simply remember this.

 

Slimes are evil.

 

Kill the slimes.

 

Until they are all gone from this world.

 

Synopsis:

 

Blue slimes are special. They grow quickly in power, and can evolve into the next evolution, the goblin. And should the blue remain in their eyes in each evolution onward, they can become a force of great power.
And the last Demon King has died recently ...

So what's a slime to do, but aim high?
 

Characters:

 

Grissom:
This blue slime was just born, and the island he was born on seems mighty big to him. He'll head out into the big, wide world in search of answers. Because he has a lot of questions for a world that always tries to force its own views on him. Grissom seems to be otherwise pretty quiet unless there's a brunette around.

Farm Girl: to be named

A young girl living alone on a farm near Grissom's birth forest. She seems to be lonely for some reason ...

Malyn:

The maid of Arkaley's inn, Easing the Badger (brownie points for recognizing the temp name of the inn), is outspoken, and concerned about a rather large issue brewing in her village.

Gomp:

Gomp is the Goblin Leader. This is Gomp's tent, and that's Gomp's bed, and those are his treasure chests, and did you say that you just bashed in some big, mean humans? Gomp thinks you should take charge now!

Lady Agnes:

A strange lady monster Grissom meets as a slime who gives Grissom encouragement to grow stronger.

King: to be named

With the death of the Demon King, peace seems to reaching all corners of the kingdom, but the king is old. He might not be as sharp as he used to be ...

Hero: to be named ... probably Hiro

The hero is here to save the day!

More to be added as I continue.
 

Game Features:

 

Turn-based RPGBranching Evolving Classes to choose from (Slime to Goblin to Hobgoblin/Demon/Imp to Ogre/Devil/Pit Fiend to ...?) additional classes may be added before the Ultimate Form

Semi-Branching Story that may give two endings

Possibly two hours of gameplay (subject to change)

Really cool concept!  Might try this out when I have time.   

Mapping looks a bit awkward--just a friendly note, in case you weren't aware (I myself struggle with mapping too).

Thanks, but which map and awkward how? Goblin base is supposed to be a bit weird in any case.

Yeah, mostly that map--the way the dirt is, and how that grass abruptly ends for that 1 tile in the top right next to the elevation.  And the signposts on the tents.

Ah, it's supposed to look overgrown, and improperly uh ... 'gardened'? And the dirt is just highly traveled areas/training grounds. But I do agree about the signs - I've moved them to the side of the entrances for now, but the more I think about it, they're still a bit oddly placed.

I'd love to test this when you release a demo. I myself am finishing up a demo for my project, link in my signature somewhere :p , and I always love my motto. Give to Get and Get to Give. Basically it means...if I find a demo...I'll give whatever constructive criticism I can and be helpful..if I get some back great, if not, oh well I did my part :p

I'd be willing to give you whatever you need.

Maybe anything I find in your demo I can check to see if I repeated any of those things in mine before I release it. (I like bug free demos XD)

Edit 1: Just found 6 out of the 7 crates. OMG playing as the monster is fun and the slimes are totally cute <3

Anyway, slightly off topic, you might like to fix your spoiler tags as they are not working.  What you do is this:

Nope, not me. I did see something about slimes in a minigame-type setting.

Also,  :unsure:  that's EXACTLY what I have, but ...? I have no idea why they're not working right.

Edit: oh, joy, I got one working. Frick it, don't care right now. If a mod would like to take a peek at it and tell me what's what, then please do so. I got lunch to make.

Anyways, the setting makes me think of the japanese light novel "Re:Monster", where a here is reincarnated in a goblin, and further evolves in hobgoblin, ogre... There is also a manga adaptation of that novel, and I think the concept rather interesting :)

Actually, that's exactly what I was inspired by! Differences are, of course, the story, and the fact that the Hobgoblin > Ogre classes won't have any "magic" as it were. That will be the Imp > Pit Fiend classes with some magic in Demon > Devil classes.

I'll have to put up a demo with RTP later apparently. Which will have a few more little events added since I've been working on it still, so I guess I should update the other demo too.
