I just, omg fricking God, Korra my baby. Lieutenant, I love you so much. Amon can go die, well y'know, again. adorable person. I just, oh wow did I cry when Lin got her bending back. Where the Frick was Katara in all this, I wanted some pure extreme bending from her... And Kya, where the hell was Kya? And Zuko. Oh gosh, 2013 for season 2, nope. Can't wait, I'm going into hibernation. omg omg omg.

All right, now that I've had time to think about this, let's see!

My thoughts on the season as a whole:

I think it had severe pacing issues. I like the fast-paced-ness that was legend of korra, but when that comes at the expense at learning your characters, I just don't care as much. I think if each episode had been an hour long or if it had been a full-fledged season, the creators could have done this better. But they were trying to cram way too much into a mini-season. They should have known better. It would have made the show tons better.

I don't understand why the creators had romance in this season at all. You didn't know the characters yet, and they threw them into a messy relationship woes. So all we know of these characters were how they were in a relationship. You know what's also sad, Mako and Bolin were pretty useless to the story after the Pro-Bending Tournament. Especially Bolin. Mako only had Asami and Korra to be connected to romantically, so if you take that out, he seems to be an after thought. You didn't get a sense of friendship between Korra and her avatar team that Aang had with his (yeah, his team had 3 seasons, but there's no reason Korra's team shouldn't have been more developed). I think that is because of the pacing issues and the fact they shoved the romance in there so soon that anything that was not connected to it, didn't matter.

I mean, it's nice for once the guys in a relationship thing are flat (you know how many kid shows have it the guys are fleshed out but their lady romantic counterparts aren't?). At least Korra and Asami had plotlines. But Mako and Bolin did not. Their plotlines revolved around Korra or Asami (or even as in the case of Bolin, not at all) which is terrible writing.

Also, wtf, dues-ex-avatar at the ending. It was way too neatly wrapped up with Korra getting her bending back. However, given that the creators only had one season to work with and didn't know they would get a second one until after all this had been made, I'll let that slide. Gotta let the kiddies have an uplifting ending after having a suicide on a kid's show. YEP.

(Though honestly, I would have loved a mini-arc where Korra had to get her bending back the hard way (I mean really, that could have had lovely character development) and not Aang coming and going "here ya go!").

But, despite all that, I still liked the season. Really flawed, but I still enjoyed it. I just hope when they do the second season, they can get better at the parts they failed at in this season.

Um... wow. Just... wow. I have SUCH mixed feelings about this finale. I mean... I can't even describe just how I feel about it. Mako roasting Amon with lightning was definitely one of my favorite parts though. And the suicide? Wow, did NOT see that coming. I really have to wonder how far ahead the creators thought this through. Everything seemed so... rushed. It IS okay to leave loose ends, you know! >_<

I'm still on TLA and I have to say that I really love how much stuff they get done in one episode. I'm barely half a season in and already there's CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.

If this was anime, we'd have to wait a year and a half for anything like that.

Okay, no seriously. Never realized I'd ever be sympathetic for Tarlock, and just because of one episode (well, two, technically). It does feel rushed in that I really would have liked to hear the history from Amon's side and maybe learn a little more about the equalists and El Mustachio on the way, but it is what it is and it packed a punch regardless.

Also, a total WTF at the ending. Now that was needlessly rushed. But then again, I'll take a happy ending over the soul-crushing despair we get every episode. I mean, how long's the next season going to take to start?

The thing was, Korra had her bending, it was there, but it was just blocked. I don't mind the ending, they could have worded it better and explained that she still had her bending but it was blocked but regardless, I didn't mind it. It made me cry which is always a good sign haha.

My thoughts about the romance at the ending...

I won't comment on the fast pace anymore, because everyone else already said it. The triangle relationship really complicates things a lot, and it drags on for a long time considering this is a mini-series. Even though, toward the end, I kinda enjoyed the Masami moments. I had hoped that Asami wouldn't be the I-loved-you-and-because-this-will-make-you-happy-I-will-let-you-go type, but I must say the Masami break-up was handled beautifully (and I never actually liked Asami OvO, so that says A LOT)

@Sabao: I read somewhere that the storyboard is just completed and they will start working on the animation soon. From an interview with Asami's voice actor it seemed like a

season 3 might even be considered. Still gonna take a while though.

Yeah, so I take it season two will take a while. I'll take this season's ending; if they'd pulled a Ned Stark on me I'd have wept all the way to next season.

And I think Mako handled the uh, breakup well enough. I don't think it even qualifies as one, but his manning up to his mistake was one of the smarter things he's done about the triangle this entire season.

Season 3? You're kidding me. I would love for them to make this a 3 season series just like LoA. Concerning the 2nd season, do guys think it will be longer than the first or about the same length? I'm hoping it will be the same length as the LoA series.

Also, about the finale:

I loved the ending. Sure the last part with Aang giving Korra her bending back and Mako telling Korra he loves her was a bit cheesy (for me) but was necessary, so I didn't mind. Also, I loved the suicide part. I generally love it when people die in the end of movies/shows. But that leaves the spot for main villain open. Any volunteers?

What I like about it is the subtleness, because I feel like I can understand the breakup without anyone saying "I guess this is it for us" onscreen, and that seemed to be the case for both Asami and Mako as well. Them both going on different paths and a kiss on the cheek were definitely a good closure for Masami.

I wasn't really assuming there'd be an 'it's not you, it's me' thing going. I think both of them were smart of enough to acknowledge it was dead at least a week ago. It's nice to know they've patched things up, somewhat. Writers picking up on it again later on seems inevitable though, as tiring as it is.
