Every time I open RM, I am in an epic 'grah' with myself. A fan-game.... Faal Kel? Tahrodiis. Treacherous. I am torn. Faal Mey Los Komeyt. The fool is let loose. Kos Mul, Levi... kos mul.

Hahnu... Hind.... Heim.

Faal Dukaan...

Skyrim or Sims 3 with their incredible array of mods are both very tempting, but I think I'd have to go with Football Manager 2012.

LittleBigPlanet 2.

Its a game creator disguised as a platformer. You can make ANYTHING with that game and he community always have something new.

RPGs , while I love them, would get boring really fast if they were all I have to play. Xenogears is my hands down all time favorite game ever, but I'd probably not pick that, it's not really that replayable.

I'd rather choose a game I can always play over and over again and have fun with, or a game in which I can always learn something new by toying around with it (i.e. games that are more toys than games). Probably either Civilization 5, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 or a Beatmania IIDX game.

I know I already put my two cents in, but I have another idea.

Either Game Maker 8 or Indie Game Maker. Just having the opportunity to make whatever game I would like would be extremely handy.

ADOM.

Seriously, people have been playing this game for 20+ years and they still haven't found everything.

@thatbennyguy:

Do you mean Ancient Domains of Mystery? If so; I may have to second that it's a pretty awesome rouge-like.

But if I could pick any RPG Maker I'd probably stick with that and be able to create many games I could look back on as if they were new to me years later...and I know what I like so it shouldn't be so bad; if not kind of sad that I'll always see a twist coming.

For me, it's a toss up between Xenogears and Wild Arms. Both are completely different from each other, but I've probably spent more time on both of these than I have any other game. Xenogears for it's long (super long) story, of which you would probably need to play multiple times just to capture all the details, and Wild Arms because of its clever use of dungeon puzzles and the unique abilities each character has.

Little Big Planet 2 or Civ III, either one of those could last me for years.

Hmm... I'm tempted to say Xenosaga (never played Xenogears), but that's really three games (one story though).

So I'll go with the Baldur's Gate Trilogy megamod. I don't know the exact count but I know the installation I have now has over 300 mods installed concurrently, many of which can't be played on the same playthrough (ie: if you choose X, you don't get to see Y or Z). Almost infinite replayability with class choices and multiplayer (whether you play with other people or not).

As RyanA said, RPGMaker would probably be the best choice. And having that as the only game would certainly make it easier to stay productive.

But barring that? I'd say Dead Rising 2, or Diablo 2.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
