The Rant/Rave thread is very popular... which is fine. I'm all for venting... it's therapeutic. But there is a time and (most importantly) a place, for joy and praise... and as best I can tell, there is no place to express that on these forums.

I'm in a good mood today. I had some good heart to hearts with some buddies from work, and elsewhere. I feel like spreading appreciation and love.

==============================================================================================================================

Forum Folks [in no particular order]

@Celianna - You've been very helpful... plus your tile-sets are sexy pretty. Thank You.

@Raine - You did a title/logo for my game. You did it very quickly. When you gave me the logo, I thought it was done... but came back with a high-res version of the logo. I want to Thank You for not only contributing to my project.... but for going out of your way, without me having to ask, to go above and beyond.

@Lunarea - Thank You for your help around the forums, and for your modern tile-set. There are much easier ways to make money than selling tile-sets.... so it shows your love of, and commitment to, the RM Community.

@Indrah - I had an issue finding something that was referenced in one of your threads, so I PM'd you and got a response in no time at all. Thank You.

@Frieza - Your tutorials are glorious! Thank You for putting the time and effort in to helping others achieve their goals.

@RyanA - You've just been an overall pleasant and cheery person on these forums :3 Thank You.

@All the Mods/Staff - :wub: Thank You.

I could go on and on. Please don't feel bad if you're not in this list. It isn't comprehensive :)

==============================================================================================================================

Other [in no particular order]

@My Mum - My mum raised me, my 2 sisters, and my brother all by herself... and did a ridiculously awesome job. I owe everything I have to my mum, and can never do enough to repay her. She remarried (I never knew my dad) when I was 8... and lost her husband last november. She's handled it was such strength and grace... I love her so much.

@My Step Dad - Like I said above, I've never met my real father... so my step-dad is the only dad I ever had. He came into our family when I was 8ish, and instantly fit in. We all love him. He was so self-less. He came into the picture when my brother was addicted to Meth, and when both of my sisters were going through tough marriages (and eventually, divorce). He was never angry at the situation, or felt "cheated". He took it all on, and dedicated himself to being not only a father to us all, but a grandfather to 4 children... who all love him. He passed away suddenly last November from a heart attack.. He didn't get to see my 20th birthday, and didn't see any of his step-grandchildren grow up past 13. We were sad that he was gone, but are happy everyday that we had him for the short time that we did. He gave a lifetime's worth of love in only 11 years. I love him.

@My brother and sisters - We were never the "fighters". There was a bit of a rift between us... as I'm the youngest and 20, and the next youngest is 30. This may be cliche... but they've never just been siblings to me. They are my friends. I love them.

@My Niece and Nephews - They're just f*cking awesome. Way cooler than I was at their age. Haha.

@Molly - My Dog has been one of my best friends. We got her when I was 9... and she's been a blessing. She is nearly 17 now. She has stomach issues, and her hips aren't so good... but she still plays like a puppy. She's been back west... so I haven't seen her much since I left in 2010. I love her.

@My Step Brothers - They've provided such invaluable guidance over the years. They feel no different to me than my real Brother. So selfless, and loving. No matter what, they can make me smile. When Dad died... it was hard on me... but I couldn't imagine what they went through. He was only my dad for 11 years... He was theirs for nearly 30. Dad did such a good job of bringing us together... and even though He is gone, the bond between me and my step-bros will be eternal.

@John Frusciante - As a being, I believe that Frusciante is nearly unmatched. I love him. Humble, true... just an overall "proper" person.

Again... I could go on and on.

==============================================================================================================================

So... what are you happy for? Could be all sappy like mine, or your favorite soda. Don't hold back!

Finally! I'm tired of seeing negativity within the world. Time for some more positive stuff to actually flood this forum other than seriousness, negativity, and passive aggressive fury. I'm glad to see more new members come in and get into the Makers and have quite an enjoyable time with it.

I personally like, or love, gaming as a whole. I think it doesn't get enough praise as a form of art, let alone entertainment. It's gotten to the stage now where anyone can pick up a video game and experience a whole other adventure, world or lifestyle. There aren't many things which I can say that about, lol.

I also have to give a great big mushy shout-out to the RM community, too. Ever since I joined vx.net back in May 2010 I've met some really good developers and people, each with their own talents and personalities. Seeing people making free resources and games in order to help or entertain people they hardly even know is an inspiration, especially those who make them for the community and not themselves.

Couldn't agree more. I love literature and film... but video games... they're special. It's unfortunate how much hate video games can bring out in people. Art should never spawn aggression or judgement. I'm not a fan of Halo... but I'm not going to talk down to a person who likes it. Why should I? Why should anyone care who likes what.

Absolutely! I mean... Raine's logo energized me! The fact that a stranger, who owes me nothing... would take time to create something for me... it kicks my butt into gear! And people who create incredible art, scripts and music... free for use... it makes me so glad. Such a beautiful thing. There is so much love in these forums... but nobody can see it.

I like the message here, and I like the optimism! But imo this thread could encourage elitism, cliques and rivalries. it's also pretty close to being a forum game.

if we can steer this away from the mushy garbage about people on the forums, then it could be a good topic. the stuff about loving literature and games can go somwhere ;d

i love literary television. i love the wire. i love the sopranos. i love breaking bad. i love six feet under. i love the CHARACTERS from these shows; I love that I can get to know them as time goes on; that I can follow their development through years of their lives. I love that there are shows like these that have actual literary qualities and can be fulfilling to enjoy on an artistic level.

i love that I am living in a time where humanity is on the brink of the next level. we are the generation that will live to see an age that was once thought possible only in science fiction; in fact we are living at the beginning of it now. i love technology; i love progress. i love man's ability to think and reason.

more of that kind of stuff; less "i love my forum friends omg"

Let's not spam the thread Crimson.

I'll allow this. We've got a rant thread, a thread for appreciation is fine with me too.

Really? That is would be very unfortunate, if that it is indeed the case.

it's also pretty close to being a forum game.
No more of a "forum game" than Rant/Rave.

Garbage? Appreciating a person is garbage? I love any appreciation, small or large... and I love showing appreciation. I have nothing against talking about literature, games, and other 'non-person' things... but I won't restrict it to that.

Couldn't agree more. Not only is the writing incredible, but the actors and cinematography as well. An immense amount of work goes into making these, and I appreciate it.

Yes to all this too. We're lucky. There was the renaissance, the industrial revolution, and then now. I feel very lucky.

I love that this place exists. I love that there are enough fans, and I was able to be around it for so long. I love that I can survive and make money doing something I actually love and have passion for (The RM Community itself, not so much making games in RM). And I appreciate that I was given a chance to do this.

I love the friends I've made doing this. I love the stories I have about "enemies" I've made doing this (Seriously, I don't hate anyone, but I get the best stories from people who hate me). I even to a certain extent love the drama in doing this. My life would be pretty boring without it.

I also love my family, and all the people who support me in the real world outside the interwebs.

Things I also love:

The fact that television, even the non-HBO stuff, is constantly getting better.

There are probably like 4-5 shows on just standard cable that I tune into every week, because I actually like the humor, like the stories, and like the characters and drama. Could I have said that 5 years ago? Probably not. (Also, what is up with USA Network popping out consistently amusing shows... when did that start happening. (I mean, they still have a whiff or two, Necessary Roughness is kind of whatever, but yeah))

nah ***** don't misunderstand. your post is cute and all—but it can BECOME pretty trashy if the thread degenerates; i'm just trying to give warning. i've seen this stuff happen lots of time in the past. SO FAR though the thread is coming along nicely (except for kilim but that is to be expected). :D

yeah i hate that thread too :( personally imo that kind of stuff is better suited for irc

I really appreciate anyone who takes time to contribute to the community - whether it's by answering support questions, sharing resources they've made or giving feedback. Seeing people post and having fun with RPG-Maker and RPG-Maker related things really brightens my day.

I am also always absolutely floored by how much love and support I get from online friends. Whenever I have something to share (be it good or bad), I know they're listening - and that's just awesome.

For non-person related stuff ... I just love that there are sites and blogs dedicated to high quality photography (especially photography of nature, scenery and objects). Not only are they beautiful to look at, but I find them incredibly inspirational.

The Bikers gave me a smile today. Just reading something like that made me happy that some people in this world wanna do something to change.

I'm thankful that my manager at work works with me when my health is kicking my ass. I know at my previous job they would have fired me on the spot once I started to have troubles.

I'm pretty thankful for all my friends and family. Really, I would most likely not be here if it weren't

for their undying support.

Also, I'm really appreciative of all the fine folks here. I've made a lot of new friends,

and learned a lot of game dev stuff, and some advice for life through the IRC. A lot of the advice they've

given me have really helped, and I don't know what it would be like if I never listened to them.

I could go on, but then it'd just get too mushy. :p

Basically, thanks guys for the support guys.

I'm thankful that I live in a first world country and I eat food everyday and I have good friends. I'm thankful for a loving mother and father, a brother and sister, and a church that loves me for who I am. I'm thankful that I get to go to university and study what I love doing - software engineering. I'm thankful that I live in a really free country that doesn't oppress me at all, with regimes and such like that are present in other countries.

For online peeps:

@Celianna you make really good tilesets too. so thank you for letting me use your tilesets :)

@Touchfuzzy You're a really good admin

@Kaiserkami Thanks for being one of the first people to play my game "Maximus Jones" and even make a let's play video about it. thanks for that :)

@Ronove thanks for making such an awesome game with "Star Stealing Prince" and sharing that with everybody. I appreciate that you spent so much time making a game that so many people can experience and enjoy.

@RPG Maker community for being so accepting and stuff. you're great ;P

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
