This is a really great project, you're turning out excellent sprites in a very small amount of time.  Once you get it sorted out do you think you could make more body types easily?

I've been wanting to test run spriter ever since I got it in the humble bundle. I tried making a simple idle for enemy actor2_1

I think so. It should be a a matter of moving around the polygons and saving it to another file, then making a few more tweaks. I'm focusing so much on a single model because I want to make a decent amount of animations (and get them to look good) before I convert it.

Having to sprite characters was always one of the things that burned me out on making games because it would take days to finish one character, especially when it's for a larger tile size. I've made full tilesets for a game before but I gave up when I had to start making all the characters. I don't want that to happen with MV.

edit: put together a sideview. Super janky, since I'm not very good at keeping sprites properly aligned. And I forgot to finish the victory pose so I just grabbed it from the item animation. But it works!

I cannot even comprehend making battlers and sprites! Way out if my league!

    I am working on converting/improving my Modern Exterior Tiles to MV;

here are my attempts at my HiRise/Industrial tiles. Biggest edits were to the windowed walls.

I'd love feedback n any roofs or walls. (lower right wall is MV for reference)

@GrandmaDeb, your shingle roofs (top left and bottom right) seem like they might need slightly higher contrast.  All of the roofs look like they need a boost in brightness.  MV seems to have very bright, lucid colors.  Your tiles look a bit dull in comparison, but they look great otherwise.

I'm working on some tiles, I'm determined to get this grass tile right.  Tile by itself in top left.  Any comments or critique?

Thanks, Charles, I will check that! =]

I think you have a great even texture going there, but your lightest colors could use a boost to make that grass shape in little "V"s to show up more. Maybe you could paint over the grass with a 50% opacity brush - maybe 3 pixels - in your lightest color to give those blades some definition? I'd keep it in a separate layer because you may need to have an additonal layer in a different color beneath it to get the full effect.

There is probably a better way, but that is what I'd try.

no critique, just praise, it looks gorgeous.

mh if you still insist on critique, the part where the head is cut off looks slightly unnatural. it seems as if either the back hair is too high or the front hair is too low.

edit: i figured it out, it's the hair whorl that is too low

The grass is pixel art, so unless I'm misunderstanding you painting over the tile with a brush is a no-go.  I did try and adjust the colors to help the grass blades pop out just a bit more.  I also adjusted the tile to get rid of a few obvious lines that the original pattern created.

Thank you for your critique it's much appreciated.  :)

    So you mean like this?

    Before:[IMG]Now:[IMG]

Because she has 2 whorls, the one on her back head due to her updo, and the one for her sidebangs, I think you mean that, right?  :)

yup i meant the bangs. to me the composition of the hair / its distribution looks more balanced now, though her left one (from her point of view) is too high perspective wise (that is if it should be straight horizontal). but i just wanted to suggest some experimenting on that part, so in the end you can have a look and pick the one you like the most :)

(one more tiny bit you probably know already - the pony hair lines would have to be adjusted if you stay with the higher whirl)

Hello guys, I'm starting my work with existing tilesets editions! The Purpose is to follow the idea of Indrah

    http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/3415-guide-to-simple-tileset-edits-rearranging-clumping-and-recoloring/

Just look at these models of bushes I did, before continuing to fund the work, I wonder if I'm going the right way.

P.S. These are small details yet, but I will keep updating this post and we will soon have great arts

P.S² I know is little ugly and i need to make the shadows!   :headshake:

Ok ill start by saying iv never spirited before in my life but I thought I’d try my hand at it so I started a little MV zombie project and this is a little preview.

It’s not finished yet so I’m not sure if this is even the right place to post this. but this is where the end result will end up so….

The thing is it kind of branched off in to two different designs so I guess I’ll put my time in to finishing the one the community likes better. If anyone even like them like I said I’m 100% new to spriting. I’m also open to any ideas or input on how they can be improved. Who knows once I’m done and people like these I might take suggestions on a new project.

oh and here is a little back story just for fun lol

Zommie's just a simple zombie his Favorite pastimes involve hanging out at the local graveyard, chewing on brains well chewing on anything really, taking dirt naps and surprisingly really enjoys his mead. something you just really don't see that much in zombies nowadays. Zommie's kinda the black sheep of the zombie community given his love for mead over brains, he frequently ops out of the community gatherings like the weekday mones, midday stand around or the Friday night mob for brains. for a good old brew and dirt nap any day

I liked it a lot. Maybe you can use a bit more grayish palette and a bit of blood around his mouth.

These are some ground brushs and patterns for PS that I'm making mainly focused on parallax mapping. The idea is to make maps faster and more appealing.

    Brushs:

    Brushs and patterns quick test:

If people have enough interest in it, I can share the brush and pattern files (if it's allowed, I don't know)
