I'm making some pretty standard stair tiles and I kinda wanted to do something different, just for fun. It's not very practical (not at all), but I think it came out nicely enough.

@KanaX: it looks like the rotation angle is different on the two stories. What I mean is, if you were to make a complete circle from the visible parts, you wouldn't get the same circles.

@Cabfe Hm, is it fixable? Or is the shape and angle of the steps too different and has to be done from scratch?

EDIT:

First thing I did was copy the left side of the upper stairs and replace the lower left side with them. But I think that the bigger issue is the form of the right side that emerges right behind the marble column

The left part is better, now you just need to fix the right part a little, as it begins too high (the part behind the pillar would make some bigger steps to match this altitude).

I have found an image with roughly the same angle as your spiral staircase, to give you an idea of what I mean:

I was hesitant on whether or not I should lower it a little  bit because i was afraid of making it worse. But since I get a second approval on that, I suppose it's the way to go. I also fixed some of the curving of the handrail.

Edit: Should I go ahead and add some shadows, or will it just mess up the rest of the details?

It's looking much better now. I'd personally lower the top right part a little more, but it works if no-one is paying close attention.

Shadows always help by adding depth, but it also depends a lot on where the light source is.

If you use it as a one-shot, no problem. You'll adapt for this particular map.

For a tileset, that may become strange depending on the light source. Put them only on the darker parts then.

A tad lower.

I think I'll keep it as an extra miscellaneous piece. If I go for shadows, then I'll just have to do the 10 o'clock light source that I do for all my tiles. Unless there's a reason not to?

I made a quick and dirty edit, which still isn't accurate, I think you didn't work with vanishing points which would be very important.

Here is a good site explaining how to draw staircases in perspective.

https://gerryld.wordpress.com/2011/06/30/spiral-staircases/

Don't know which graphics program you use, but you could create something he did on his website like this:

You draw a circle on a grid. Then you divide it as much as you want. And then use a transform tool of your choice to bring it in perspective.

I could make it even more simply by just using a perspective ruler.  Or you make it like him, using a one point perspective to draw a square in perspective, divide it, and draw a circle in it.

May you do well! :)

I don't mean to spam this thread, I just love the advice you guys give.

I made the 'A' version of this over the weekend and today I experimented with giving it more coloring detail. i'm not sure if it looks better or worse. Or if some aspects look better in 'A' or 'B' and I need to combine the two....

I really want to make them look as good as I can  ;_;  and I've never experimented much with drawing lips (other than little black lines) so they probably look wonky :(

I've also taken advice from last time and attempted to add more shading. I hope it worked >.<

@terrorchan: B version looks globally better, especially the hair.

There is one thing that I don't know, that is: how old is this woman? The A version makes her look like a teenager whereas the B version gives her 10 more years.

GOOD! No specific age, but somewhere between 30-35. I am bad at drawing older characters, so I'm glad it aged her without making her look wrinkly. (She is a vampire so I know she's supposed to look somewhat youthful, but I don't want it to be teenagery)

Well, If it's a vampire, the skin of A is better since most vampires have very pale skin!

I love B's hair and agree that it looks older!

Hey, I'm currently trying to make a Blacksmith class to see if it works before the mechanics demo i'll do soon and i'm having some trouble spriting this

The idea is that she takes a turn to make something so for this animation a bomb, and then misses a turn to make it then once she's made it after 1 turn she throws the bomb

This is what I've come up with after doing some minor edits but it doesn't quite seem like she's throwing it or really holding it the idea was to change the casting animation sprites to her sitting down and building with her wrench and then her casting animation so doing the spell to be her throwing the bomb

Could someone give me opinions please

The bomb is made by Saraphimwolf and she said I could use it to try and make this animation

Edit:

Which One would work best for a casting animation that looks like she's sitting down and crafting something the victory pose where I can change her face or the one where she's actually sitting down from the damage poses and I can change her face

Didn't know which to use so I thought i'd post here

I also finished the bomb throw animation to what I think is okay and did a new throw all frames are edits of whats already there I used the slash animation, the item I think it was and the magic attack animation

Yeah I'll definitely have to lighten up the skin! Its just so hard to make pale skin seem detailed...

Anyone got any tips ?

I tried to make a sprite look like she's actually throwing the bomb does this look okay?

I used the punch and spell cast frames to edit this one

it seems like she's throwing it but her arms seem a little twisted and looks wierd

but fists don't work

If this is just a step in an animation, I don't think anyone will notice the arms. I visualized in my head the first pic (from your previous post, with the bomb above her head) and then this one, and it didn't strike me as odd.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
