@NarikoStudios Well, It looks cool :cutesmile:   but be careful of making the animation go outside the section that it is in, it's split up into a grid so your cast animation (middle, one from the bottom) will have half a sword in the sky and the first of the three damage ones (one above the bottom left corner) will have the tip of a floating sword by his head randomly.  :unsure:


Also in his guard position, it doesnt look like he's holding his sword, just cuddling it... which would hurt.... a lot...  :o

I was going to change his guard it was meant to hold his sword straight infront of him to block it but I didn't know how to do it as the Katana in the dlc is slanted


But it was meant to be like he held it portrait way but it didn't seem to work so was going to try landscape like holding it sideways to block it


I did try and have it so he's holding it up but it looks too close to his face

I don't know how to fix the cast animation as the idea was to have him do a big slash for his skills so he slashes his blade through the air and like it does so much impact it destroys the surroundings as well but also almost knocks the air out his opponent by the impact the blade had with them on the hit but didn't know how to do that here xD as again the sword is slanted and not straight as I would have it on the side

Be brave, if you're going to make animations you'll have to draw at some point.  Might as well start now and get it right then trying to edit something that doesn't work into something that only kind of does.  Frankenspriting can actually be harder than drawing it yourself, even if you have to draw it many times and deal with trial and error until it looks right.

Thanks I don't know how to really draw what I'm looking for and find it easy to just edit similar things but I might give it a go at some point

Today i tried myself at my very first animated battler, well, it's just the idle pose yet but well - i will probably need alot feedback and advices sind i think it's far away from perfect

Hi, guys! I decided to throw my hand at making custom battlers. It actually wasn't as hard as I thought it would be and didn't take too terribly long.


And the enemy is something I whipped up in like two seconds because the default ones clashed terribly with my battler XD sorry it's kinda sloppy


Anyway, do you guys think these look okay or should I use the generated ones? As long as I make my own enemy battlers they should be fine, but I don't know :(


You guys are very honest and critical, so I trust you to tell me :)

I can't believe I was getting my butt handed to me by a pumpkin

I'm not sure I'm satisfied with the quality of the animation for the chest. I tried to use one of the rtp chests as a point of reference, but it turns out, they don't have boxes facing right and left.


What do you think?

EDIT: Turns out I forgot to add shadows between the metallic components on the closed version. Color-wise, it looks better. I'd still appreciate any and all suggestions.

@terrorchan Pumpkins are pretty good - maybe you add some slightly darker shading at the bottom of the pumpkin 


@KanaX Opened the chest look a little bit blurry and i think it also looks abit like the top of the chest is getting a bit bigger while opening.


At both of you - i would like some feedback for my animated battler on the recent page too :D  KanaX could at least gave some feedback on terrorchan, since the post was directly over yours


Yea, i'm some sort of behaviour teacher xD But it will work better for all of us if we help each other :D  Please don't get me wrong - this was no blame ;)

@McSundae The reason you haven't got any feedback is because there isn't much to tell. As you said yourself, it's only an idle animation, and a pretty simple one at that. Now, the boar is by no means bad. It's pretty nice. The problem lies with the fact that the animation has no real problems, but it's not something exceptional either. There isn't anything to comment on. Terrorchan and I have obvious issues with our creations and that's why we ask for suggestions.

How about you make some more complex animations, (either some more dynamic idle animations, or attack ones) so that we can see if there are any errors, or something else we want to mention? :)

Think the animations for all of you look good


The animated battlers from Terrorchan look cute there chibi and seem like there kind of a anime style I couldn't see where the gun was in the video when she shot the pumpkins but think it might be because was a small screen as was on mobile


Mcsundae your boar seems a bit shaky but looks really good


KanaX The chest is looking good and seems to open fine it does look like it's kind of wide when it's opened

@McSundae I love it! I can't wait to see the whole thing, since the style of it is very unique and looks overall great! Also the animation for the idle, is very smooth which is good!


@terrorchan Those are super adorable! I love the girl, she has very unique animations, and that makes her really stand out! Also the pumpkins are cute and have scary faces. I would recommend having the pumpkin death animation as a sort of smoothed pumpkin Or even instead, it cut in half?


@KanaX I don't know much about chests but that does look pretty snazzy! It's a very fancy chest though, so you'd need lots of fancy, special, rare stuff to go in it, like an ancient treasure!

I tried to make a animation of a book being summoned can somebody tell me what you think and which is better he holding or the arm raised


in the chapters I wrote she held her hand up high but I did a low one aswell


also tried to edit her uniform slightly tell me what you think as bothered it doesn't look like a bow on her shirt

I did some rough images of some more battlers





Ignore the names, I'm not very creative with that. But I want to try hard to avoid using token enemies (slims, rats, bats, serpents, ect.) 


No, that's not a cloud. It's like a piece of coal/ore/whatever with gems sticking in it. it's for a mining level.


Oh yeah, and the pumpkin enemy. I added more shading like suggested but I'm not sure if I understood them correctly :/

Since the designs of your characters are simple enough, they would greatly benefit from some good animation. They are too cute not to animate. Minestone needs to be acting grumpy while having each of its stones glowing at intervals.

Well, It really depends on how you like your enemy names!


I was thinking Gemo, Mineos, Stoney McStone, Coal-Man or something similar! A good tip I have is if you can't think of a name, add a cape and call it by it's species e.g Coal and then add "Man" on the end! Like Coalman, Rockman, Minedman, Stonedude, Bob the Super Coal, or anything like that!


Also I LOVE "Drash" 's expression, he just seems so surprised and it's so adorable!

I'd move the katana slightly down and left so it fits snuggly in his hand. Other than that it's great

I second what kloe says about moving the swords. Also, the legs are a different color than the rest of the body. Other than that, looks good :)  make sure you're using the came color pallatee for all the skin parts. The arm touching to sword is darker than the torso, the other arm, and the hand touching the sword.


And thanks Kloe! Drash is adorable, it'll be hard to kill him ToT


And I like the name Gemo. Mineo is really good too, though >.< ahhh

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
