    Thanks again, I think I understand what you were saying a lot better now. It should come as no surprise I misplace something (at least if you knew me), I have problems with everything art-related, I'm just too stubborn to give it up. I used to have a deviantart account and got comments like "do you even understand the human body?":p

    Anyway, I'm gonna keep working at it and won't clog the thread anymore, at least for awhile.

    It's a shame it's only a bust, though my respect for Bukaret has gone up a lot.

    Well... Even with references I just can't make it look like a woman/naga/thing based on a green tree python with two separate snakes for arms.

    Maybe a bit too much dithering, tried to imply scales.

    @Pine

    I like him!  I saw your status update about S. American culture, presumably he's the first of many?

    @RocketKnight

    Is that statue based on a RL one?  It looks familiar.  If it is, there might be copyright problems.

    It's an acronym for Real life. He's asking if the statue is based on a real one. (BTW, your spriting is godly beautiful, man)

    I have been tinkering with an Iggy sprite. I am not going to use the sprite in the game I have planned for the contest, I just want to touch up on my spriting.

    @exhydra that is so cute :) only suggest would to be use some selout on the horns and helmet

    @Shiroi akuma - she's cute, I'd put the gem on her forehead under her hair though, it looks like it's floating

    @Omega weapon - looks nice, I'd definitely suggest some alt bricks though to break up the pattern... on the snake it's wayyy over dithered, to make scales you don't have to dither more, just in a different pattern.  These references are dragons, but honestly for what you're designing I'd use dragons for reference so you get a thick chest and change the face out and subtract limbs.

    his tail design looks pretty flat, i'd give it more of a 3d perspective, it looks like it just gets smaller as it sits

    @Pine - he looks nice but also a bit stereotypical?  also, ditto on the selout and there's some slight pillow shading on the hat

    @Rocketknight - i love the color palette, the statue person has a weird bend in her middle to me... something about it looks unnatural

    You are right the band which holds the gem is barely visible. Maybe I should lower it down.

    Very good work Exhydra. I don't know much about pixelart, but this one looks awesome in my eyes.

    I want to sprite a dark skinned woman with an afro, but I'm not sure it looks right (but one of the restrictions is the 32x32 size, can't make the afro higher):

    @Candacis Hm, reminds me of someone from the site. I'm not sure who. Upon zooming in, I can appreciate the level of detail a bit better. It's a shame that so much goes unappreciated in such small dimensions. Do you have a whole character set, or is it only this one? The afro has a pretty good size. I think if it was bigger, it would be a bit comedic.

    She's lovely.  She looks a little like Uhura from Star Trek to me.

    Did you want her to look like she has braids or twists or a big picked out poofy afro?
    It looks like pretty twists, which works for me.

    At the 32x32 size, you don't have much room for a gradient for the poof. =] At least not in front/

    So the sides could have a twist at the edges above the ear also.

    I sometimes feel like I'm spamming this thread. But I made another thingy

    [IMG]

    An overworld sprite for me!

    Not very satisfied, but dang, I should have thought about the insane amount of details in the original drawing.

    for reference:
