Not sure if I should be posting this here or a different thread, but I want your opinions on this.

Okay, so! One of my character is named Minuet Etude. She's the Mage of my game (she's sans hat in the pictures so you can see her hair better), and she looks like this:

Cute little gal, I think. However, recently I was attempting to design an NPC and was hitting Randomize and got a cute girl with dark purple hair. So then I got to thinking, "How would Minuet look with this?" And then I tested it...

"Not too bad, actually!" I thought.

Especially since my series has the characters age and grow older in each game, as you can see here by my main hero Alto:

And I think it would make more logical sense to have Minuet's hair go from a darker shade of purple, to that lavender shade as she ages, to, say, this color once she's an old lady:

However... I run into a few problems if I go with the color change. Firstly, I'd have to redo all those emotes I made for the character:

And secondly, the lighter purple haired Minnie is what I picture her to initially look like in my head, so that's just weird to me...

Any thoughts?

@Little Adventurer I would say to have her hair in a darker shade to start out with and then maybe progress to the lighter shade as she ages, to match Alto and the concept you have in mind. However it depends on what age she starts out as, since I know at a young enough age some people can actually have their hair darken over time. And depending on her personality she may be the type to change her hair color or something. Just some possibilities you could explore.

So, I've been working on this tileset for about a month now, and I'm starting to worry if it's actually turning out okay. To my eyes, it looks fine, but I've had my face stuffed in it for this whole time, and could really use some outside perspective. I am entirely new to spriting, and 2D art in general for that matter, so I may not know a lot of common artist techniques. Also, I'm only using four colors total for all tiles. But enough rambling, here's what I've got.

And as a bonus/reminder to myself, this is how it all started out a month ago, just to show progress. :3

Soooo... yeah! That's my tileset so far. All but a few object tiles should be shown in those screenshots. Are there any tiles that stick out in need of improvement?

Pretty soon. Part of my Victorian tiles. I hope to have everything set up by the first of June.

Yup. Originally everything was for Ace, but I took some time to remake them for MV and continued working for 48x48.

Looking forward to it!

That fits perfectly to the theme I want to have for my game!

I can't decide between cell-shading or soft shading. There are parts I like about both. What do you guys think? I feel like if I shaded the soft shaded one more it would look better but I don't know.

Ever tried combining them?  Start with cel shading and do some simple gradients and blending, but not full blended?  I like the eyes better on the blended version.  The number one thing that would help would be a consistent light source though.  You've currently got at least 4.

Ah yes. I'll do that with my next piece. I really should stop ignoring light sources when I do non 'scene' art.

I like the cel-shaded one better because the colors you used for the softer one look a bit dirty (probably the wrong word but it was the first that came to mind) because they seem to have more gray in them vs. a color (at least on the skin).

@terrorchan in my opinion, the second one. It's lovely!

@RocketKnight that moment when we wish it would be possible to map a image part to have an addictive blending mode, instead of normal. It's very good, but I think that the bottom of the character is very squarish.

So, about my game: it will have a ton of skils, and I want the player to see what's the skill type through it's icon. In this comet icon, it's easy, since brown is the color of the comet and yellow~orange~yellow is the color of the comet's tail, but there are skills which the original icon colors aren't so intuitive. How do you people prefer?

2x:

Sorry, I've forgot the indicators. When giving your opinion, imagine the indicators are:
A B
C D
please. :D

Thanks!

All of the vroom vrooms:

I usually make some wooden textures and then use them on all the surfaces I need, but on the third car I tried making wood specifically for it. Is too alien to the other style?

I have a need for a child battler, considering that the beginning part (prologue) of my project begins with the protagonist as a child. And considering that there is a lack of template in regards to that (or, at least, I had a hard time finding one--if one does exist), I decided to try my hand at making it.

I don't have much to show right now, save for the first frame of the Battler Sprite.

In terms of height, this one is 12 pixels shorter than the default RMMV battlers.

Consider this a work in progress (WIP), I'll try to hurry the work along without foregoing the quality of the template. I am also open to suggestions, comments, constructive criticisms, since I am not as good in making templates, or even spriting, to be at par with the brilliant pixel artists around...but I do have some experience with it as my previous projects in Ace and VX made use of sprites I have made.

EDIT:

Finished with the Idle animation for the battler, but I am not a hundred percent sure if this is a good-enough one. Also stuck with GraphicsGale not letting me save .gifs for some apparent reason so I might just switch on over to another graphics editor, which is the reason why (hopefully) this little strip of image will do.

MV Resources is for completed resources. I'm merging this with the WIP topic.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
