I'd also like to thank everyone for being so patient with my posts. I feel so much more confident now to do a larger set. :D

This particular flower really needs some actual shadow underneath it, so it'd fit into a world better. but, I thought it was important to get a basic style going on with developing a workflow. I'm sure it's gonna change over time and with practice, but it makes me so excited to do more with pixels!

I have some furniture roughs, and more flower roughs to start up, hurray!

Wow... you guys made me rethink the way I sprite...

This is the start on a sprite request that I was working on for practice. I'm not really satisfied with the hair, but I only spent like an hour on it, so I can't expect much.

This is the start on a sprite request that I was working on for practice. I'm not really satisfied with the hair, but I only spent like an hour on it, so I can't expect much.
I'm not exactly experienced at this, but I do love the outfit! It feels very form-oriented, which is what I think makes some nice-looking pixel art. I don't think I see any banding, either. :)

As for the hair- you have these lovely smooth color palettes in the outfit- I'd apply the same concept to the hair as well. I'm sorry if I'm wrong here, since you said you may have done that had you had more time.

@Seeaka: Dont be afraid to make the hairs color pop a bit, add some highlights to that hair. Also dont forget to shade the forehead :p



uhg he looks so stiff, i am horrible at making bases lol, but i am so tired of doing RTP style, and i dont really care for mack.

Add some curvature to the arms and additional width to the trim of the boots to make him appear less stiff.

@Shiro: Yeah, defs get some curvin' in the arms there.

Also, he just looks suuuuper stiff -- kinda like a corpse or a board! Try making him look a little more relaxed and natural. Don't be afraid to make the base a bit bigger if you need to, either!

Good job mimicking RTP style. There's a few things needa change though:

- When you do the hair, you need to pay attention to the head of the characters (just like how you do your sprites :D ) Here's how the head would look underneath, and because you did not notice this, your character's head is looking a little weird ...



- Also, I'm not sure if you it's intentional, but normally when you do a male, try to give him higher cheeks, it makes him look more mature (your character is like, late teens or young adult at least, right?)

-One last thing is (maybe you already noticed, because this is still a WIP OvO, but I just mention anyway), that is the darkest shadow of characters' neck is often outlined in RTP (I added that for ya). If you use SAI, just color like usual and change the paint effect to fringe, that would take care of it instantly. If you use other programs, then Idk xd

My latest attempt to make hair, and blend with the rpt. The left (our left) went fantastic, but the right side.... nnnnggggg not so much, i worked my ass off on it and this is the best i could get it :/ but it is an improvement.

ahaha apple thanks for the critiques, but you're a little late bro. i finished it last night and did a lot of the things that you suggested. it's pretty cool that your feedback was spot-on.



some of the expressions are a little sloppy but w/e. i'm not gonna be using it myself anyway B)

@shiro: BIGGER MORE CONFIDENT CLUSTERS! you have too many individual little pixels everywhere. and remember that you do NOT need to use every color transition—don't be afraid to put your lighter colors right up against the dark ones.

@Needles: the RTP has very distinctive noses, you should make yours more pronounced by adding a thicker line around it that is noticeable.

This sprite is going to be finished, right now this is going to be the main character for my game. hes a sword and shield user so only is right arm has armor (the sword arm) and most likely (if i can figure out how to sprite one) his left arm is always going to be holding a shield.

@Shiro, Nice sprite, it looks really good and in my opinion, some what different style to what others make...

Something a bit different, a simple feel for my next game, been working on some tiles for the game, and I want to know what you think. I would like you to pay attention to the word "Simple"

I've been working on some sprite bases for my game, since I wanted taller characters. I know I mentioned the furniture and whatnot, but that is coming still! :)

A previous note to viewing: These are my first sprite bases ever, and, they're not done yet. :p Hence the WIP, hence the flatness of certain parts yet. Kind of a basic, very basic framework. ...Also, they're kinda Barbie doll-naked right now, so I'm putting it under a spoiler for... reasons. :p

It's very fun working on this sort of thing though. I'm planning on doing variations as well to make things a bit more interesting. :)

My computer broke yesterday, so no RPG maker for at least a week until I can get it repaired. :(
