Nifty! Though I'm not a fan of those soft shadows on the bottom right.

Thanks for the advice! Just to clarify, you mean the shadows under the light-posts, right?

It's very nice, but if I may add in, her body seems rather... long to me. Especially around the collar area. Since the breasts shouldn't be down that low. Have you considered trying to draw frames first to form the basic frame? I highly recommend you try that out before drawing in the details like hair and clothes, it's helped me many times to make sure the proportions aren't looking strange. Her hands also seem really small to me.
Thank you for the advice, Rinselli! :3 I'll try to fix her body proportions again. I was so fixed on her head proportions that I forgot about her body already xD As for drawing basic frames, I'm going to apply that method once I get to start a new drawing again. Thanks for the tip :3

As for coloring, it depends, which way are you going to shade it? Soft-shading or celshading? Just remember to designate a light source before doing so as it will help guide you as far as shading goes.
I'm going for cel-shading this time to compare what's better for me personally, and as for the light source, sometimes I get confused by it that my shading goes wrong for the hair :[ I haven't started to color her yet though because I've started to fix her proportions.

Working on making Background sets to use with a map display script (my first unique resource!)

I am going to possibly break them up into sets.

Site is slow right now; I'm hoping this doesn't end up as a double post... =/

working on editing some materials by Meko

recolor hair + recolor hair - add Ulrika's earrings

change dress

adjust faceset and sprite to match (oops forgot to recolor the necklace for the second dress!)

Questions:

The lines in the hair to define the style and hair sections are kind of over-blended in the original.

Any suggestions on how to bring them out more in a closer-to-RPG-maker-style?

Do Ulrika's earrings need to move over a bit on the left side? Should they be edged off a bit to seem behind the hair?

I didn't do a very good job easing into the clothing line on the left side. Suggestions? (I use GIMP.)

I am looking for a mermaid-ish or Arabian-ish look for these.

Thanks.

@Chrome good eye but it has never been a map name background before and it was just a test. It looked cool though.

@Shin
I think the grid pattern doesn't work all too well, unless it was somehow animated. I think using the blue by itself, or using a blue gradient instead, would look nicer.

I'm trying to get into painting portraits/faces and environments for a side project and using more than one PS brush, so here's attempt #1:

Didn't touch the hair yet, but it's there for the general shape. I'm not happy with the cheekbone and the left side of her face in general. Might need to rework some of the forehead, too. But the rest I'm reasonably happy with. Oh, and no iris/pupil is intentional, as Cassie is blind. :)

I didn't use a reference, so I'm hoping I'm not too far off on facial proportions. Anything else I might have missed?

I think the lips down to the jawline all looks a bit off perspective wise. Like, the mouth looks crooked, especially at the bottom of her nose. And maybe thin out her chin/jawline. It's making her a bit chunkier than perhaps you meant. Then again, I can't paint, so I could be wrong about this all, but it looks off to me as a viewer.

can't sleep, so I'm working on some preliminary facesets. there are a couple things about this I think I'm gonna be tweaking for a long time -- particularly his mouth and the highlights in his hair. maybe 5AM isn't the best time to do something like this.

the palette is taken from an unfinished project by the late, great DE. it was called Akropolis, and it concerned a small robot's adventures in a broken-down facility. I've wanted to do something in that theme for a long time now.

this man is not what you'd call a philanthropist, but he's known to get things done. sometimes, that's all you need.

e: got bored, decided to animate an alternative. probably won't be using this one except rarely, makes him look p. evil. also not satisfied with the "a" or "o" frames but now it's six in the morning and I am lucky my brain even works this much.

e again: wwwwwwhy

I've been kind of interested on working on Painted Red again so I've been making new sprites and designs.  I'm not really worried about how the shading looks atm, especially those damn skirts! D:<

Trying to decide which of the first two sprites to go with.  Second one would probably be easier to animate but I also kind of like the first more.

For the next pair, I was messing with her eyes in the dream world... I think the second one might be too creepy and make her come across as a vampire or something.

And lastly, Adelyn when she's 9, which is when the next chapter takes place.

Also, an unfinished sprite from Mystic Voyage.

@Gomi Boy: lol I like the smiling animation xP.

@Espeon: I'm thinking of how the character would look on a face/portrait, and I think the second design would give that more character. If you're not using faces, I'd just go with the second one because, like you said, its easier to animate.

Also, here's my first attempt at a tile:

Its supposed to be like one of those will projector things from Star Wars.

Looking good! You might want to draw the base from a slightly higher perspective, though; placed on a map, I'm not sure that that'd look like it was sitting flush to the ground, relative to everything else. Y'know?

I've kept banging away at my thing, meanwhile. Thalzon challenged me to make the next frame I did a different pose altogether, so I took the opportunity to throw together a crazy expression from scratch. It's actually pretty fun drawing someone who's just completely wigging out. I think the highlights are still way too slapdash on this one, though.

Hi, I've been working on my own sprite base and would like some feedback if anyone has any to spare. :3

I'm already messing with a newer version based on some mistakes I've already noticed like the stumpy arm on side-standing so I'll update with that when I'm done.

Also, if there's any interest once the kinks get worked out I'll post this and a Type-F as a resource anyone can use, but where would I post something like that? I think I cashed out all my smarts figuring out where to post a WIP already and can't figure out where to put finished stuff, lol.

Hi,

I was just wondering if i could get some feedback on both the window-skin i made and the layout of my windows for my new equipment script(s)

Screenshot 1

This is what my scenes looked like before i changed them around, which one looks better ? ( i think the first image but im unsure )

Also, the windowskin is meant to replicate PWI's equipment info skin thing ( can be found by googling PWI equipment if interested)

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
