@Marian Hurricane: They look pretty good. The only critique I have is that the first object (looks like a mini suitcase) doesn't look like it's in the top-down perspective. Also, the one on the far right (is it a little mirror?) has a strip of white that really stands out, but I think that might just be because it's negative space and not part of the object. Would be interesting to see them in a map.

@Digital_Raze: Thanks!

@A-Moonless-Night: Thanks for the feedback! I added some stronger highlights on the top of the case and made the latch a bit lower... Hopefully it helps readability a bit. And yes, that's just transparency, not white.

Just as a note about the screenshot, I'm not really concerned about clashes since I won't be using the RTP (I can worry about that later when my tiles all look funny together~ lol), but if anything sticks out as looking odd in general, that would be good to know. :3 Thaaaaaanks~

I'll echo what monkeynohito said, though I'll also add that I do hope you'll fix up the shoulder on the side view, looks painful :]

This ain't something "big", just wanted to see if my progress is any good with pixel art, I started learning it 2 days ago xD, and wanted

to see the criticism on my first sprite (btw I don't know what it is, it's something xD)

@iLurota:

Not bad. Really. But this "horn" remove it and you can use it as a special stone.

Well another Concept work from us.

It is the hero without equipment and weapon.

I still managed to not get the frames right for the front view on the gif.... but i don't feel like posting the same image again so I'll repost it when I make some edits.  Really didn't notice the shoulder, but it does seem to kinda pinch.... thanks for the input :)

@circledrain - love that little guy, he's so cute.  Only thing i'd change would be the tips of the feet, they look like they just end... maybe round out the edges?  look forward to seeing a meshed version

Need a little feed back. I tried my hand at spriting today and this is what I came up with:

Kirito from Sword art Online. One of my favorite animes.

its based on this picture

@Dark Paladin: He looks great, but the sprite seems a bit off in comparison with the image, maybe because the sprite is more bulkier than the reference image, but anyway, nice job!

I haven't been around for a while, school got in the way (and of course school is important), but here's more of Pixie:

She's almost finished, the only animations left are the skill (trying to do something based on wing buffet is hard, it might take a while) and the entrance animation, and i really need help on this one

Here's three posibilities for Pixie (and others) to enter in battle

1st: SMT style: Summoning Orb that reveal pixie after the animation ends.

2nd: SMT II style: A pentagram that summons a pillar of light to in the end show pixie (pixie wasn't a demon in SMT II, but i liked that animation).

3rd: SMT III: Nocturne style: The pixie fades in with a lightning effect following the animation.

This is what i came up with (it's finished in a sketchy way), which of the above three options is the best, or if you don't like any, say another option.

Also, if you want to review the battler, you are welcome to do it so.

Pixie looks great! For wing buffet, all she really needs to do is flutter her wings a bit followed by generic wind effects.

Paladin, I know the original art uses superflat colors and your sprite actually looks pretty striking and cool, but just keep in mind that lower res images like sprites tend to really rely a ton on color contrast and blending to also convey form and depth as well as shadow. That said, if you're going for this minimal superflat style, you should apply it to the skin as well.

How does this cutie look?

I tried to go for more of an rtp style because I'm being too flaky about the defined style I was doing and keep changing things.

Lol, I just imagined doing a game where PCs, villains, everybody has this silly grin.

Which of these styles is preferred? They're not RPG-makeresque because, I don't like that style, but they still follow 32x32 per sprite / 96px Mugshot rule thing. I dunno what else to say. Just criticize helpfully please.

@zblueboltz I'm not really sure what you want to achieve,but if you want a style more 8-bit, go with the first option,or if you want a more polished look, go with the second option, in my opinion, i really like the second option the most.

@monkeynohito:

I like the overall look, but I think a few small changes could make a difference:

(my edited version is on the right)

1- The eyes get a little lost in the face, so I've added more shadows around them and a couple pixels to redefine the shape. I did the same thing with the mouth, as it was not very visible unless you really zoomed into the picture.

2- Your sprite was more realistic than a chibi sprite, but the proportions were a bit off to me. So, I brought in the shoulders and made the arms/legs a little longer.

3- I didn't really like the 3px dark line between the thighs. I reduced it to 1 pixel.

Just my 2 cents, anyway. :)

^ I prefer left's smile, it made the edges of the mouth seem deeper, though the rest of it is harder to see :B

It matters on if you're going for a more retro style or not. Personally, I enjoy the smooth 'modern' feel of the resources to the right.

As for criticism, I would flip the faceset, so that the light source is consistent. That's all I got, really. Nifty style~

Thanks for the feedback!

@Lunarea - You're right about the eyes, it really makes the details pop. I pretty much eyeballed these proportions and yours look good, I'll put some more thought into it. I like my smile better though, lol.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
