@neverward

It seems to me that neither of these has that top-down aspect that I associate with normal tiles.  Is that the intention of the commissioner?

Not sure what either of you are talking about with the vanity. It just needs a shadow and it'll be fine. The umbrella is out of perspective though.

I see you're using a very ... unusual amount of color, which is about 157 on the parasol. Not sure about the intended graphical style you want to achieve but, I think it's better to stick more closely to either pixel art or painterly. If you want pixel art style, then you can do the usual cell-shading method. If you want smooth texture, then you should paint them. Because this hybrid style looks really odd with that amount of colors and dithering.

Also, I suggest you plan out perspective lines before you start working, so it's easier to pinpoint perspective issues early on, and harder to go wrong when you're about to finish.

Thanks a lot that helps immensely, I'v honestly never tried to create a shape quite like it so you have taught me a good lesson :) I enjoy learning from mistakes! I am saving this pic away though for ref hehe...

I've looked carefully, and I'm not sure what it is.  Presumably some sort of battler? But it looks like it's standing on a dinner plate, so maybe I'm wrong.

I wouldn't have guessed that it's a portal.  But perhaps it's obvious in-game.

maybe once it's animated it will be... Plus I made some kinda "intro/birth" animation that shows it coming out of the portal... :)

I have mixed feelings about that... might be better to see it when it's actually used...

I think I'd let it fade.  There is something odd about it at the moment.  Not sure I can put my finger on it, except to say that I find it visually confusing.  Is it a statue standing in water, or is it a statue standing on a solid surface?

If it is standing in water, then it doesn't have any organic connection with it.  It's far too abrupt

Yet as a solid base I'm left wondering how it balances on that surface.

putting it in the middle of water does make it odd and very out of place. I think it would help if I show you how it would look on land. Also, I took your advice and changed it from swirls to fade. :D

Doing some edits of the dragon sprite from the Ace RTP

I was making a dragon head when I thought about trying to put it into the RTP dragon, and I really like how it turned out.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
