I think any of them would work with the tiles but I prefer the right one and I think it'd go a little better with the dirt. All the trees have perspective issues though, the root system should be about 5 pixels taller to match the width. The canopy on the right tree is in a side perspective instead of 3/4ths, so we'd need to see more of the top and less of the side. It's hard to tell because of the trunk but it looks like the darker cartoony one at the bottom is tilted too far forward, like it might be if it was 4/4th perspective or something.

Blair Pendragon asking for criticism on your tiles belongs in the WIP thread, please post there.
Sorry about that, thanks for the link. :)

I think it'd go a little better with the dirt.
I'm not sure what you mean, but comparing it to my other works, I'd say its the best dirt I've ever made :p (I'm so bad at small sprite images)

As for the bottom tree, I was thinking of making the trunk smaller (closer to the leaves), since it seemed odd as is.

The tree on the right looks nice, but the extreme lighting on it makes it bad for "Dark Forest" type zones, so I'm thinking I will stick to the bottom tree for now.

They do look blurry though - I assume that is because the images are enlarged? Would love to see them at their regular size.
Yeah, I enlarged them, and put them in a lower JPEG quality, to avoid those who steal sprites. (or at least, give them art thats not as good as the original.)

Since the conversation was continuing to derail the other thread I moved all the associated posts here. Blair Pendragon, if a mod tells you to do something in blue text it is not a suggestion.

I meant that the dirt is a little more detailed the same way that tree was. They do both fit though.

I'm posting this question here because it is in regards to a WIP I want to post here for feedback. So the question: I am working on an animation. How can I post the animated form here? (Make a GIF or whatever I would need to do?)

I think a gif would be good unless it's really big or long, then you could post a video of it.

There is a GPL free software called Licecap which can create GIF files from your screen.

Rather easy to use.

I started working on some chests.
At the end I want to create some dungeon-specific chests (like fire, ice, etc) in all 4 directions.

Yeah, this is the magic lava chest, but I'm unsure, which version is better but I think I prefer (and will finish) the first one.

Hello my RPG Maker comrades, I have been working on my own sprites for my game for awhile now, and have decided to post them here to get your feedback on my works in progress. Please give me some honest feedback on them to help me grow as a spriter, and perhaps tell me which was your favourite or least favorite. Many Thanks. My Sprites.png

@King, I actually like them all, nice work.

I'm aiming to make my project in much higher resolutions, and here is a quick mock up of the higher resolution.
I was going to keep tiles at 32x32 pixels, since i already made them, but i think it looks a tad too zoomed out.

some people say they like it, but im thinking of giving the player the option to zoom out and back in again.
(Except in cutscenes, ill take control of the camera)

What do you think of this resolution?
(Menus/combat will run in 1280x720, to allow more detailed drawings.)

So, I'm working on my Mack sprites, la dee da when I have this weirdo thought... I want to do a sprite that basically hovers/flys above ground instead of walking. What this would take is basically some changes to the standing poses, but when I try it, it all looks a little strange. I'm also having an issue getting it into the game without it looking like her feet are dragging on the ground. Could anyone give me some suggestions?

I know that the side and back views have no hair and aren't done yet... but I'm trying to nail this first. The feet also tend to clip when uploaded because the edit backs the sprite too tall to render properly.

CobeSlice, I merged your topic with this one. RPG Maker VX/Ace Resources is for finished resources you want to share with the community, not for works in progress.

use a larger picture, and place her roughly 5~ or so pixel higher.

then place a shadow under her.

then in game, try to have an event that keeps her in stepping animation, even when sitting still, this way the float animation keeps playing.

if u have the skill, animate her hair, to look like its moving with her levitation floating. (slightly changing, nothing drastic)

that should be all u need

The general concept is that she will be used in game and controlled by the player for a certain section of the game. As such, I need her not to clip or anything when I have her being used. Ive also used the movement hair from the walking animation sprite to simulate the movement of floating, although it's obviously probably a terrible idea and will need edited to appear more ethereal and less... bouncing.

I'm having a serious issue with her feet and legs however. I feel like they could be more polished but I cant seem to translate that into a "how" or figure out what that would look like.

I'm thinking something along the lines of the pink girl here:

All the other sprites have a few pixels alignment shift because of the ! at the first, so if you took that off of this sprite and used those pixels to space out between the character and the shadow it might work. Mostly I think having the shadow stationary while she bounces would have a pretty good effect. I think the feet on the front view are fine, you've probably been staring at it too long.

@Cobeslice

Well does she need to look like shes standing? She could be 'sitting' while floating.

If not that then have her legs together like the pink girl and maybe have her arms out or crossed, so it looks less like bouncing.

I'm working on animating her like this for combat, but feel i should do more, like make a slight "breeze" for her hair. (Very small, so it doesnt look too drastic)
and maybe a slight bounce to add some weight to her body. (Also nothing drastic)

I feel breathing would be too small to notice, so probably not worth trying to add.

I should mention this is only 3 frames on a loop, so I cant do anything too fancy either.
Any advice on what all I could do, to help animate her?

I'm starting to think i need a bare minimum of 5, just to make her not look so weird.
(maybe 3 would be fine on smaller sprites)

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
