The shoulder movement feels wrong, like she's supposed to swing and doesn't. I think you shouldn't move the upper arm at all, just keep the arm motion to the forearms. A slight bounce where she bends her knees slightly and the hair follows through would be enough I think.

I'm working on my battlers, :) Here is a preview of the new Italian Renaissance set:

Any thoughts about it? Does the guy on the top right guy look a bit weird? Or is it just me? I feel like something is wrong with him but I'm not entirely sure what...

His right (our left) leg doesn't seem to be attached at the hip, maybe that's it?

It might be something with his legs, I though it was a shield at first. I'll try fixing it when I'm finished with the rest, maybe when I'll look at after couple of hours I'll see it. Now that you mention it it might also to do with the thickness of the legs. :) Btw, Thank you.

Oh, I got them mixed up! Man, you'd think after all this time I'd know right from left. Mister shield is fine, just looks like he's dancing. Maybe his sword hand looks smaller than his shield hand.

The hands are exactly the same size, it might look different because one is hidden in the shadow and doesn't have the highlights, which I might add now since you mention it. :) I wanted to give him more of a dancer pose, like he is swift and quick. Someone like Rapheal from Soul Calibur: http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/files/costumes/2631/78067/CI_78067_1367251557.jpg I hope that's the way I portrayed him.

I won't changes his legs in that case, maybe a little touch up.

Exactly the same size might be why they look different, it seems to me like the distance is enough that the far one should be smaller. It's not important though, it looks awesome as is, I'm just being nitpicky to see if I can help you find what's bothering you.

Hmm, if I change it by one pixel even it'll be too much of the difference the sprites are too small. Don't worry, it's great your nitpicky! :D I love having your opinion, plus it makes my brain cells working :D and look ate the picture a whole new way. Your a big help as always!

Trying to get the ears toned down and rounded, and refine the mane.
Ya, that character does look a bit different compared to your other characters.

well, trying different things out, i didnt tone down the shoulder movements, since it looked wierd to me otherwise. (It would have been fine, if i went with 4 frames of animations, rather than 3, but 3 is very limiting.)

Right now I'm trying to figure out a way to animate her legs, w/o making it too crazy looking.

The more I stare at the picture, the more I find small mistakes I need to fix.

Most of them arent noticeable, until it's animated.

As for the legs I would make her slightly bounce, like go down and up. She'll look as if she is ready to jump and attack. :D Overall I love this animation so much! :D I saw the previous sketch and almost drooled over my computer. The pose is really cool and effective, her hair movement adds so much to this and just overall design is great! I can't wait to see this finished!

I am working on water tiles:

It is definitely a WIP and I still need details, please only critique the water because that is the only portion that's mine. How do I animate? I mean, it's animated yes but soooo not smooth.

Animation is hard! If something isn't smooth it often means that you need to make the changes less dramatic so that they flow into each other visually. Flipping the image isn't going to work for you here, it'll be better if you distorted or redrew it so that there's less movement.

Ah, thanks! I know that flipping it wasn't going to work, I just wanted to see what it looked like in animation like that first. :) Does it even look like water? Maybe I've been staring too long. XD

It looks like it represents water. It doesn't have to actually look like water to work well, most 2D game representations of water don't actually look anything like the real stuff.

Hi all.
Since I don't have a spriter yet for my (future commercial) project I decided to try some of my own. This is based on Navest's battler. I didn't touch the face/hair, I only recolored it slightly. The hair still needs to be resprited but I want to get the rest done first.. The Original sprite was covered by a huge shield so I had to do some major guesswork about the body.

I need some help with the shading and the pose for the arms, I might make him melee or make him wear a chinese halberd, I'm not sure yet. I haven't found a good battler tutorial yet either.

It's been awhile since I've been back; realty being itself, again (but that's a whole other story).

I know the pain, BCj, 'cuz I'm not much of a spriter either.  Or faceset maker.  Or, well, artist at all.  Still trying.  As such, he's what I've got: a sprite set, and face, for a particular character in m' project.  Fairly happy with it, given m' skill level, and would appreciate some constructive criticism, and suggestions about how to fix the back of her headdress; I don't think it quite looks right.  Shouldn't take long to figure out what religion she practices.

Thoughts?

RMMV
I did some reworking on him, happier with how it turned out.  Though the muzzle may see some changes.

I made this last week, but I don't think I'm going to use it after all. I sized down the graphics recently and had to scrap a bunch of these larger images, but I still sort of like them.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
