Got on a marvel kick recently, made a bunch of my favorite characters (Nova is my favorite but hes not here, made him a LONG time ago) Yeah, just some nice WIPS i threw together, ill probably only finish a few, i know eventually Ironman will get done for sure.

From left to right: Quasar, Ironman, Mr.Fantastic, Starlord, Thor, Silver-Surfer, Super-Skrull.

Oh good lord, after going to the movies to see Avengers at least four times, I kind of geeked out when I saw that you did Thor and Iron Man. I wont lie, if you did a Captain America and Hulk, I may just have a happy heart attack.

IMO the detail of the characters needs to be defined more. A lot of the features are lost in flat colors. I think that ironman/mr fantastic have the most promise. Thor looks like a large female opera singer :p

Maybe make Hulk in a 64x64 frame? Would be legit.

Yeah, a complete set of the Avengers would be amazing.

Anyways, I have been fiddling with Overworld tiles lately because I personally think there are a lack of RTP styled ones out there. I have been pretty pleased with all of them so far as they are matching RTP fairly well, but one in my mind sticks out. I tried working on a 1x2 version of the Ace RTP Oasis tile. I thought that a bigger version would be cool to have for some people seeing as the normal is 1x1. But, I would like to have other opinions on my finished product before I give it out in the community.

I would just like some opinions if you are willing.

It appears that the source of light is coming from two directions. Trees are primarily highlighted on the left, pond highlighted on the right.

Oh, I was trying to mimic the existing 1x1 Oasis Tile from the RTP, but I now see what you mean. Anyways, thank you Ezra ( I am a big fan of yours, btw). I will fix it before I release it.

EDIT: Call me lazy, but I found it easier to just flip the water and move one tree to the opposite side. Tell me if it looks bad like this though and I will go back and just manually change it.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

Ha, clever. I'd like to see it on an actual map (mind throwing up a test shot)? It is harder to evaluate in isolation.

i think the light is set up that way because the pond is shaded from the sun by the sides of the pond.

if the light source is from the left, the left hand side of the pond would be in shadow, the way the sides of buildings are in shadow on the maps. =]

Hey Deb :) It has been a good minute.

I think the edge of the pond would have to be raised significantly for that shadow to be accurate. The edge is currently quite small, and given the standard light angle in VX, there should be very minimal shadow from it. The second iteration is definitely more accurate, but still not entirely so.

Id like to see a little shimmer on the water, and more attention to shadows. Maybe a bit more contrast too.

Ok, i did a little more work on it to put in some more detail.

Here is mine next to the RTP 1x1 Oasis.

And here is my new one in a map. Note that the trees in the Oasis are slightly more vibrant than the rest of the ones in the desert. This is because they are actually getting water.

Also, bonus points to anyone who can guess what that map is from.

Hints: It is a remade map from a 2001 Gameboy Color game. It was a sequel, but both games were spin-offs of a lager franchise. They were both re-released on the PsX together on one disk. Some people say the game was a rip off of one of nintendo's biggest franchises, but it actually was more in depth (at the time).

Edit: Oh, and Hi Deb!

More Battlers, all on chars from my old project: Throne of Heresy. Right now I only have animations for Cid [top right], a pretty sweet jumping hammer smash :p

Ezra_battlers.gif

Credits to Orkimides for pose inspiration and a few of the swords/hair.

Let me know if you see errors, or something that could be improved upon.

EDIT - -

Additionally, made the standing animation for the blonde swordswoman :)

Her casting stance is pretty much done too. Im excited to finish the whole sheet!

@hyde9318

I really like the oasis but personally something about the light reflection bothers me. For me it actually looks like some object or cloud gets reflected. But htis may be just me.

@Ezra

It's cool how she glows in casting stance :)

Her standing pose is also nice but in my eyes it's a bit strange how perfectly here sword and here breasts are aligned in movement.

So uhm...I decided to try to pixel my own stuff and started with trees. Actually I think they're not 100% finished (the light is still missing) but I'm pretty proud for my first steps and I want to know what you think of them. Please consider they're not meant to go along with the standard RTP.

Ignore the little grass-green spot in one of the trees, that happened because I was looking if the two tree models are compatible to each other.

You said you haven't added a light source yet, but when spriting it's easier to start from a predetermined light source rather than doing details first. Some details become more subtle or more defined depending on light intensity.

On my end, I wanna make a punch of P3/P4 HUD facesets for VX/A characters, BUT IT'S NOT GOING SO WELL ;3;

I'll probably attempt Erik next and then try Ralph again '3' I'm trying to nail down my side view face technique at the same time.

(the line colours are a little off...orz)

@Shiro: here's a quick, crude guide:

@SorceressKyrsty: you may want to clean up your lines, they're very sloppy. The iris also looks ... very misshapen. I recommend turning it into a long oval.

@Celiana: Good attempt but holy god that single line from the far right spike bugs the hell out of me lol.

Ive kept at it and after about 5 versions ive landed here, prolly the one ill go with, after a bit more tweaking. He kinda looks like a black haired roxas :p (from kingdom hearts)

Looking good! And yeah, it does look like Roxas, but hey who cares, the guy's got cool hair.

You may want to add some more contrast and add more lighter colours to the outline like so:

Isometric suxx :'( :

you've got the line angles way wrong, which makes the squares really jagged and the perspective is off. the lines for a square should always be in two pixel increments
