hey guys!

do you have those kind of friends where you are REALLY GREAT friend with but in same time your biggest rivals?

if I explain I have a friend of mine "Tchiyu" we are the greatest friend and we both draw

I excell in anatomy and she's excell in coloring and we have somewhat the sames levels.

but each time if we "improve" and get "better" than the other we somewhat not complex but likes : NO HELL NO you will get better than me!  and we automaticly try to improve for get the sames levels again.

we not argue or something! we are like we motivate ourself most of times we contribute to help to improve each other

and even if we most of times get jaelous both of our arts style we style not have any anomisity between us and take this as a challenge and a good thing's for motivation : D

so did you guys have this kind of friend or had one who was like that a "rival friend"?

My rival is my friend Corrin, I've known her since I was seven and ever since then we've competed in almost everything, writing, drawing (which I completely suck at), video games etc. She's better than me at most things with the exception of reading. I will always read more books than her.

Then there's my brother, were never really rivals until it comes to project M (Smash bros), we're both really good at that game and have broken multiple remotes out of rage.

Basically, any other 'successful' indie developer or game out there. I mean, if they can do it why can't I xD?

But in my life, I don't really have a 'rival friend' >o<

Hmmm.. I suppose I don’t really see any of my friends as rivals.

A lot of my friends and I do the same kinds of things, but we (or at the very least, I) really only compare to share feedback and tips. I dunno. I try to do the best that I can, but I’m never aiming to be “better” than anyone else.

The closest thing to a rivalry I have going is when my older brothers and I play Smash Bros. during holidays. Then it's war.

Actually I do think I bad explained lol....

this not the same thing's of "rival" how to explain

this not a bad rivality we still respect the other art but we feel the need to always improve when the other improve this not really a war or trying to crush the other

I don't know how to proprelly explain that so maybe more like a :

[00:18:26] Nio Kasgami: well this a weird concept I can't explain almost like a synergy friendship?
[00:18:32] Nio Kasgami: we both motivate ourself to improve?

this more something like that I do think...

My brother was once my rival.

We were separated through divorce and met each other again playing Yugioh at a card shop, of all things.

We both played Smash Bros. Melee and I was quite better than him. In fact, we played for six months straight and he never won a single game.

Now he plays competitively and I don't play that often at all, but he always says, when I mention how bad I am compared, "Six months, man. Six months." XD

Lol, your story is very much the same how my friend and I used to be when we were between 12-18 years old, except with the roles reversed. I was the one with better colouring and camera angles, but my friend was always better at anatomy, yet we were around similar skill levels, and were always trying to out-do each other.

Since then I haven't been drawing as much as he has, although I'm still not that far behind him. We aren't rivals any longer, since I don't do a lot of drawing myself anymore (unless it's for my RPG), but I often give him advice and help him improve on the points he isn't as strong at.

I proclaimed a friend as a friendly rival but I think she took it the wrong way...

Nah, man. I'm way too chill for any of that.

When a friend knows something more about a subject than I do, and when I know something more about a subject than they do; it's just feels like trading information.

However, now. If we're playing Mario Kart or Mario Party. I play dirty. Don't play Mario Party with me. I'm really mean when I play Mario Party.

I had a rival friend in high school. We were constantly comparing grades and trying to beat each other's scores.

I'll never forget when he finally got 20/20 on an English test and waited all day to shove it in my face only to find out that I got 21/20. There was no more glorious a moment in our rivalry than that.

Hmm, either something very interesting happened there, or your English teacher needed up brush up on arithmetic.

Well he WAS an English teacher. (I got a bonus point for something. I think it was referencing one of the short stories we did earlier in the year? Honestly, I think he was onto our feud by that point and fed fuel into the flames of war.)

So, you finally admit that I am the superior reptile?

Probably the closest thing I had to such was my twin sister and school grades. We didn't outright compete but there was always a sense of who could do better in what and at times a bit of gloating.

Now, I don't feel so much a rivalry, but what I think you intended to say, and that's feeling inspired by those around me. I love learning new things, so if I see someone doing something, it's not so much "I need to be as good at that as they are" as, "Oh wow, new thing to learn, me me me."

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
