we mostly enjoy like showing our greatest draw and make comparison and to see what's we can learn of each other.

and obviously when we trading lineart and we done a super great coloring it's fun to see each other likes : DAMN he /she make me doubt about how I color my OWN characters!

I don't have a rival! I tend to get inspired by others and feel more PRIDE and FLUFFIES when a friend does something cool than a drive to do better myself.

That's not to say I wouldn't love a rival. A rival I could argue with...but then we'd become best friends...and I could hUG THEM............

I used to have a rival musician friend in high school. He was better than me at everything...except for maybe singing. I lost contact with him a while back. Then got in contact again. Have his phone number, but we don't really talk. It's kind of sad, really.

Currently, I don't have any irl musician friends I could call rivals. Not because I don't consider their skills.

Vexed is my rival for pixel art, but it's completely one sided and I don't think she quite understands what I mean by it.  I want her to do better, succeed, and make awesome stuff, and then I want to beat her doing the same, and then I want her to beat me in this glorious never ending battle where the winners are the people who like pixel art.    And us, because we got better faster than we would have without the rivalry.  I don't see myself as being at her skill level though, she's just barely out of my reach.  I gotta work to catch up.

Man, I wish I had a good rival for my other creative pursuits.  They're tough to find and they don't always last.

More like we share a mutual influence with one another. But she doesn't draw as much anymore so yeah. O:

I never considered anyone a rival, let alone friends. I'm just the kind of person who's not really into competition. I like to share knowledge if I have any, even if the other person is already most knowledgeable and/or skillful than me.

For some reason, I do have a couple of friends who consider me a rival in regards to what nio described, even though I myself don't really mind who is better. People are so complicated sometimes.  :

The type of rivalry Nio and I are talking about isn't about the comparison, it's about growth.  Humans grow better when there's an opposition, something that keeps us trying our hardest instead of giving in and saying "whatever, I'm sure it's fine the way it is".

I'm more likely to share my knowledge and try to help someone who is a possible rival.  If they don't grow with me, it's stops being fun.  Also, they're much more likely to get the most out of my knowledge.

Other than that, our friends and us pretty much acknowledge our skills - and strengthen them for developing games.

I think its nice to have someone you sort of compete with to help push you to new limits in what you are working on; the best part about a friendly rivalry though is that the person also has your back to.
