Yea sigh(That's why I wouldn't suggest waiting/holding out for that to come, before buying this pack), but it would be amazing if it does at some point get translated. However even without it, this pack is well worth every penny(there's so many great things in this pack, infact I like it way more then even the DS pack, It's that great)..

Maybe they can give it out for free for those who already bought the pack, in case it comes out

but yeah, the pack in itself is already more than worth it

Some more stuff to add

The green crystall ball is what is glitched on the icon sheet.  It has some parts that are transparent that ought not to be.  If you purchased thae Japanese version you register it and you are sent a download link to download a .zip with the fixed one when you go to the send suppot links for registed products.)

Total size for the Japanese version of the Samurai materials is close to 500 MB.   (The Sample game is only 37.8 MB & the seperate patch for it is 169 KB.)

The team that made the sample game also did a sample game and a script help file full of scripts that is part of the Japanese VX from what is on the site dedicated to it.  (These haven't been translated and you can only download a sample version of that game and not the full one included with VX.  I do't have a Japanese VX so I can't give more info about this.)

The sample game included with the Japanese Samurai pack I believe was intended to be expanded at some future point into a much larger game from what I've read.

The music wise the Japanese pack has 13 tracks of BGM & 2 tracks of ME the new tracks are given in both .oog & .wav formats.

The sample game uses the 2 new ME tracks & 10 of the new BGM tracks.

The sample game has one folder in it that contains 4 of the scripts used in it in "not configured form."  If you look at the Script Editor the game is using 16 custom scripts.

One script used ExItem_Menu has a more current version online.

The VX_SP1 needs to be updated to VX_SP2 too.

Most of the other scripts are available online for download, but some of the are older versions.

I've only translated 2 of the used scripts fully and have 2 partially translated.  (The translations do need to be checked by another indivual to see if they are clear.  Some of the translations required adding extra lines for comments due to space restrictions.  The English comments are longer than the Japanese one in regards to characters used.)

English support does have all the Japanese files, except I believe the fixed icons.  They also have the patch file for the sample game that was on the creator's site. (I filed a support request about the icons months ago and support wasn't aware that an updated version existed.)

Some graphics used in the sample game will need to get redone or modified in an English version. having English text show up over those areas could be done by adding some lines to the game events they are in.  (The End Credits graphics, and one graphic which is a flashback image.)

The sample game has a help file (.chm) which would need to be translated.  (I have no way to extract the text from it and will not translate it because of this and because it is only 7 lines of text.)

I do have permission to translate the sample game currently.  No "official" plans exist I was told to translate it because of other existing projects.  (This could change in the future.)

One huge translation problem is many of the words are for specific things that are not in most English - Japanese dictionaries, wikipedia, etc.  They are in Japanese only dictionaries ,and the Japanese wiki, but trying to figure out what some things are is difficult and often requires more translation work .  A literal translation doesn't help with these items.

I mentioned some of this stuff on my blog.

I know I was just hoping some random sprite artist might drop by. lol

But it'd still be nice if it was in there when the pack was released but no biggie.

Oh, yes. The Samurai pack looks very nice, and looks like it has tons of stuff. I love, love, love buying tilesets/graphics and character packs, etc. (The only sets I ever bought that I regretted buying were those DS packs that I don't know how to use.)

The Samurai pack seems to have lots of stuff, and I really like the color scheme and look of it.

However, for me, the reason I haven't bought this particular pack (yet?) is because I don't really have a use for its resources. I'm not into the feudal /ancient Japanese settings (except for the ninja aspects).

I'm more into traditional European/Medieval-fantasy, space-fantasy, urban/paranormal fantasy, scifi, and modern themes/settings. This pack's theme doesn't appeal to me at all, unless I do a modern world where people transformed into fantasy samurai like Ronin Warriors/Yoroiden Samurai Troopers or something.

I love almost all graphic packs and especially the Samurai VX but be careful if you want to use the Samurai Window Skin in VX Ace...

That's how it supposed to look:

And here is how it looks in Ace by default:

Is that without any additional scripts and no script changes (like changing the size of the game window)? It looks like it's just been enlarged/zoomed a bit.

This is a newly created Ace Project only with the Window.png imported from the Samurai DLC.

I don't think it's enlarged/zoomed, though. I think it has something to do with the way VX Ace sets up its text and outlines. For some reason the text shadow/outline looks more crisp in VX and blurry in Ace.

The windowskin shouldn't have anything to do with the way text shows up, unless the colours have been moved around a bit.

Its a bit offtopic now, but as it was mentioned a couple of times, the appearance of windows, colors and fonts has changed from VX to Ace. I have no clue where the bluish color comes from but if it comes to fonts, even when you load the original font (umeplus-gothic), in the original size (22) and style (outline=false, shadow=true)  it looks different...

Here the version with umeplus dropshadow and no-outline:

@falsenstern the blue color can be a blurry layer to make fonts easier to be read sparating them from the background. This is set by RGSS3, using Window.png asset (windowskin). Does the Samurai windowskin has such a nice blue color inside it maybe? Check it out (I don't own Samurai pack yet) and if you find out it was that png windowskin, that contained that color, then keep in mind you can easily edit it however you want really.

Oh, thanks for that hint... of course... a new feature in Ace allows you to change the window background color in the systems menu and the default setting is blue... ;-)

that's how it looks after setting them to 0...

Is that windows XP or the classic windows skin, on Win 7?

Does it look ok without shadow?

It was about the Samurai Window Skin (window.png) that doesn't work correct with the default Ace settings. I am using the Classic Theme on Windows XP and the shadow comes from changing the font style in the script editor to simulate the font setting from RMVX.

Ohey, you managed to fix the size too! Which part of the script do I need to change for that?

If you have umeplus-gothic.ttf that comes with RM-VX... you have to make a fonts directory in your project folder and copy the font into it. Then you open your script editor and insert (insert here) and write the following lines:

If you don't have umeplus-gothic or prefer the default font, this are the settings I use right now:

I like the samurai pack & hope more are made. It was the first pack I purchased (yes I do have a samurai game I'm working on lolz). I'm sad no love is given for this set. Sure medieval is great and all and there could be more sci-fi and horror stuff but who doesn't like samurai stuff??

I'm still at it but cranking out Chinese and Korean medevial swordfighters >_> lots of work... Especially matching the art style. This epic game has been in development hell for 2 years....

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
