Never played much Demon's Souls or Sekiro. But all the others I've completed and thoroughly enjoyed.

What I'm really waiting for is Dragon's Dogma 2. The DLC felt kind of souls like, and despite it being a ps3 game, I still load it up from time to time. Outside of XCOM and Civilization 4, it might be my most replayed single player game.

Well...one can dislike a game without hating it.

But I've tried several of these and the controls/handling just put me off. It's like Resident Evil - I like the setting, want to like the games, but find them not fun to play.

Man, I wanted to like that game. I tried it, like, three times. If I recall correctly, the whole bit with your followers don't level up so you have to constantly keep checking back to see if other people have uploaded viable characters for your level is what kills it for me.

It's one of those series I hear a lot about but never played. I should probably watch a video or something to see what people are talking about.

It amazes me that despite how popular this series is, most of the people voting had never played any of the games, including me. XD

Never played and have no interest to.
I have very poor reaction time and dexterity, as well as limited patience, so I know I would have a down right miserable time playing those games. So I don't. :p

Eh, currently not interested but maybe might be sometime later down the road; I have a lot of retro games I'm playing right now like Super Mario and Crash Bandicoot for PS1.

I played 4 of them and enjoyed them all, but I have to say the newer one feels a lot better to play than the older one. The older titles (before Bloodborne) are just too clunky for my taste. Unpopular opinion, but even Bloodborne wasn't the masterpiece most people claim it to be, it has many flaws that luckily, FromSoftware has already addressed in its later titles. Can't wait for Shadow of the Erdtree and AC6 to come out.

The main pawn does level up with you. It's just the other two do not.

However, that's a good thing, because the secret is to get low level pawns that have end game gear. Not only are they extremely strong, they also give the arisen more exp because they're low level.

LOL I like Resident Evil but I don't know HOW to play the games so all I can do to know how they end and see everything else that happens in all of them is to watch longplays. I downloaded a rom of the first game for PS1. I died within five minutes. XD

Yeah, see, to me that's not entertaining gameplay. That's some kind of metagaming farming twinks from other people stuff. No disparaging on you for being into it, but that's not a fun thing about a game for me.

I don't like 'em.
I think they're overrated with janky controls, senseless lore and overly depressing setting.
World design looks dope though.

I've only really watched my husband play it. I like the vibes, but it's just not for me. I'm neutral.

I think it has it's charms and karmas all the same.
it's obviously very literary in nature: the themes of chivalry, fantasy, adventure, mystery, etc... they obviously tried to convey *the product of imagination* through *videogame*
not sure I agree with the extreme difficulty or unforgiving mechanics, tho.
if the point is to show the player "this is what happens when you go in recklessly", I already know that.... I've seen that previously in and out of game.
if I'm playing a cinematic game for the story, don't put the story behind the skill cap! I have FIFA and TF2 to work on my skills!
if you want to complicate the gameplay so that it's not a straight run to the end, put the difficulty in puzzles like Prince Of Persia, not in timing combos where a computer will always outperform a human. I wouldn't mind having to spend an hour putting a room upside down to find the solution to a puzzle, but I do mind losing a game to some RNG tantrum.

I love the Souls games, specifically the combat / controls. The only other series I can think of that has combat as good as the Souls games is the Monster Hunter series.

The only issues I run into is that as an older gamer my skill level just isn't as high as it used to be so a game like Sekiro is just too hard for me these days. I don't have the dexterity and reaction times that I did when I was in my 20's and 30's.

But I love and respect the series for demanding so much of the player's skill and attention and also giving the player the tools to be creative with their play styles. The games are never unfair (when you die it's because you messed up or got greedy) and the controls are buttery smooth, responsive, and intuitive (especially the later games).

I wish I was a better (younger) gamer to keep up with the Souls games, but I'm glad they exist and I can still watch YouTube / Twitch videos of people playing them at a high level or make lore videos.

I like the core gameplay, a guy that hits like a we noddle and needs to level up DEF and HP in order to survive, the mods are infinitely better than the base games.

I have extensively played 1 2 and 3 and a little bit of Elden Ring!

I would highly recommend if you have access to all of the games though to play it in order of Demon Souls -> 1 -> 2 -> 3 and I don't really know if Bloodborne/Elden ring are in the same story line but I would recommend them as well!

Take this as a warning the games are meant to be extremely hard and difficult and you will die over and over again on probably any game in the list, but once you actually accomplish a boss or roadblock that you've been stuck on, and get used to the combat system with parrying/roll dodging it's so satisfying, and also not looking things up on the wiki pages and finding secret items and shortcuts is really cool too!

Don't have an opinion on them at the moment as I haven't played them but if I ever get
around to playing them I'll let you know what I think of them then.

If I do like them, I probably still won't like them as much as Final Fantasy or Kingdom
Hearts, because I'm more of a Square Enix fan. Final Fantasy 1 on the NES was the first
RPG game ever for a console, so that makes it revolutionary for its time and even today
that's saying something. More than 30 years after that game came out, Square Enix is
still in my opinion one of the kings of making RPG games.

Wait-Dragon Quest was first? I thought Final Fantasy 1 was first, but maybe I was wrong. Am I?

My One Map Challenge is nearing completion. I am in the multiple run testing phase atm. This is the map. Beware the minotaurs in the maze area. The female ones are more aggressive. Can you prove to the land of Winchell that a dragon and a human can love each other?
I am looking for some way to insert a video into the titlescreen
before the player presses Start Game.

I have not found a thread about it. It might be different for VX Ace compared to MV.

But from what I have seen I would change the ruby 1.9 code.
Has Shaz or someone else done this before?

Ideal end goal:
Application starts -> Video (once) -> Main Menu -> 3 min wait -> Video -> Main Menu -> 3 min wait -> ...
I will probably need this again:

So I put it here. Feels easy to access now.
