This game is currently rated 12+ for mild language. This game also contains mildly political themes.

Genres: Fantasy, Adventure, Romance

Demo: The demo covers the start of the game to the end of the first dungeon. It can be downloaded here.

Synopsis:

One hundred years ago, the realm of Corill was prosperous. The humans and the elves lived together harmoniously in their own kingdoms and nations. The economy boomed, technological achievement was at its height, and overall everyone lived peacefully. But then, something happened.A wave of supremacy spread across the elven lands, which were united into one empire. Then, this empire invaded the lands of the humans, and burned almost every major kingdom to the ground. Those who survived did so by either escaping to the most inhospitable parts of Corill, or by fortifying their strongholds to any outside threat, allowing their civilizations to crumble from within.

Now, Corill is in the grip of a dark age. Most humans live in isolated villages, ruled by reclusive aristocrats and surrounded by walls, guarding whatever light remains from the golden age. Outside these walls, nature has taken over, as horrendous beasts, which humans once fought so ferociously, now rage unchecked.

The human nations that have endured have done so by committing horrendous atrocities in order to safeguard their future. Both have also substantially decayed from the inside, eroded down to a handful of cities and villages, within which the vices of poverty, corruption, and intense, seething xenophobia have taken hold.

However, beyond the realm of Corill is something much larger, something that none except a select few on the surface know about: The vast network of interdimensional passageways known as The Nexus.

And the ruler of the Nexus is the one that the undead of the universe call a god: Ryi’Jax, the World-Eater, the Emperor of Souls, the Shogun of Sorrow, the King of Skulls. Ruling from his infernal realm known as the Necropolis, he has seen a thousand realms fall to his impossibly vast armies of undead and other species that have pledged allegiance to him.

And now, lead by his most trusted generals, the army has set its sights on the realm of Corill, ready to begin another harvest of death. And now, as Corill begins to enter its darkest hour, the only hope to safeguard the future of the realm and the entire Nexus may be the past...
Main Characters:

Raine Skye:

Age 21. Raine is a self-taught warrior and mage. Raine is firmly grounded in reality, but also a risk-taker with a sense of adventure. Since he was young, he had taken trips around his hometown to find hidden artifacts in the ruins surrounding his town. Now, he has begun to travel with his childhood friend Athena around the world to seek higher adventures.

Athena Justice:

Age 21. Athena is a former member of her hometown's milita and Raine's closest friend since childhood. When she turned 21, she decided that she wanted to see the world, so along with Raine (Who tagged along to prevent her from getting into too much trouble), she set out in hopes of adventure, glory, and riches. Athena is eccentric, mischevious, and a fast talker, and does a good job of causing annoyance, endearment, or both to everyone that she meets.

When I tried the demo, the game keeps crashing on me after leaving the first town. (it stops responding during map transition)

Issue fixed, the game shouldn't crash now when you enter the world map. Thank you for your patience.

Well I just played the demo and here are some thoughts I had while playing:

I felt that the first few seconds of the beginning cut scene went a little too long. I thought that game had crashed because the bald guy didn't move. Perhaps you should make the wait a bit shorter or make the bald guy say some sort of chant so that the player doesn't get bored right off the bat.

For Sapphire Bay, the town felt kind of dead. I think there should be more NPCs walking around the town and more NPCs hanging around the steak shop. At the harbor, you can definitely add npcs like sailors and travelers as well as things like crates and barrels just to give the area more clutter. In the scene where the man dies in the steak shop and the physician leaves, she just goes right through the PCs. You can make it so that the PCs step back to give her room to leave, put the event in a less crowed space, or just move the PCs to the side next to Crimson Sam.

As I was traveled through the dungeon and went into the dark cave with the lantern, half of my party went down to the Terraskye and Cockatrice troop. The Cockatrice used a status effect that lowered all the stats of the party. I recommend that you don't make that encounter too common because it severely cripples the party. I ran into that troop about 10 times. After that first encounter, I pretty much just spent the whole time running away from battles with only Raine and Athena alive.

Then I encountered the big boss, and the status aliment just disappeared for some reason, so I'm not sure of that was sometime special with the boss batter or that the status heals over time. Raine and Athena died. I stopped playing the demo after that. It would have been nice if you scattered status healing items through out the dungeon, just so it gives the player a heads up.

I'm the type of player, if deep in a dungeon, will not return to town to get healing items or rest at an inn.

I think the characters themselves aren't too bad. I like that Raine is the straight man to Athena's antics. Though I feel that Athena and Bullek's personalities will either clash or compliment each other well. It's kind up in the air right now since I don't know much about the two. I think Bullek might be a bit too quirky and is there to be kind of just a joke character. He kind of reminds me of the Stix the Badger from Sonic Boom, who I find a little annoying, and Coach Sasabe in 50% off Free, who I like more because all the other characters are equally quirky as him. No opinions on the professor woman.

As for the dialogue, I thought it was pretty decent. I got a chuckle here and there with Raine and Athena's interactions.

I hope I didn't come off as too harsh or mean haha.

First of all, thanks for the constructive criticism. I really do appreciate it.

I'll definitely revise the opening cutscene and expand Sapphire Bay to make it more lively.

As for the Cockatrices, I should have indicated this, but they're actually incredibly fragile. If you focus your attacks on them before anything else, they'll die within one or two hits. I put them in to prevent players from simply mashing "attack" over and over again. And I should have indicated this as well, but the carts also contain status healing effects.

As for Bullek, my current plan for him is for him to be sort of a Gimli-Type character, in the sense that although he's rather goofy, he's also honorable in his own unique way. In any case, I will try to not make him too much of a joke character, and to actually give him emotional depths of his own.

Once again, thanks for your reply. It has actually been a help.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
