Synopsis
In a fantasy world long after the Great War between Good and Evil ended in the final defeat of the manifest evil in the world.

This is the story of a young couple, running away from home to pursue dreams of adventure and wealth. First on their own, hacing to learn the hard realities of being on adventure they will meet various characters throughout the story who give various observations and perspectives on different issues that plague the world. They are inspired by the countless stories that have been told about heroics and sacrifices, but sadly they themselves are a bit lacking in virtue or morality. Their adventure will take them through the known world, through successes amd failures to its inevitable end. But are they heroes or villains or maybe just human beings?

This is a very basic rpgmaker design. It uses no fancy plug-ins or scripting, but in some way an exploration of what can be done without these tools (or the lack of skill to write them). Similiarily it right now uses only resources from the various rpgmaker versions I own. I do use VisuStella Core script for some basic functions I just couldn't do without.

The Story of Two is in some way also a commentary on RPGs and adventure stories in general, since the world and characters are well aware of many stories told in our own world. There is barely healing besides resting at an inn, money is very hard to come by. The game is mostly linear, and the characters will do things the player will disagree with at one point or another.

It is an exploration of dichotomal ideologies to a degree. But my main goal was to create a well written, steady paced, fun and moderately challenging role-playing game without any delusions of grandeur. Very much in the style of early 90s rpgs, rather than the very text heavy modern ones.

Progress
Currently about half way finished in terms of story implementation, but much further ahead in total content.

Positions / Roles needed
I have now decided to finish and publish the game. At this point the game if basically entirely using MZ RTP graphics. Music mostly from the RPG Maker 3 set.
While, of course, having a completely original art style would be nice, right now I would rather want new graphics in either the rtp style or in a style that does not clash.
At this point we really need someone to create some custom art, at least logos (title screen etc.), monster graphics, and it would be neat to hame some full screen pictures.

As this is still a very small project, compensation will have to be discussed individually depending on what is done. Also I am interested to hear from both extremes of the spectrum, ie those who would like to contribute only very little and those who are interested in putting a lot of time, work, creativity in it. In both cases, and of course in all the possible things in between, I think we could come to an constructive agreement :)

I did everything original in the game at its current state, writing, events, maps, etc. Everything else is from various rpgmaker versions and resources and two plugins from VisuStella, or from the team consisting of:
BreakerZero who handles the publishing side of things
Frostycake197 is vey kindly doing some sprite work (and excellent work if I may add)
MrDummyAcc_dot is composing some beautiful music

Positions Roles needed
Right now I need two to three persons to play through what there is and give me extensive feedback on plot, characters, tone and all matters writing and pacing. That and further discussions will determine how the project will turn out and then I can make a decision on what I need and can afford.
I dont want a wider release yet until I have more of an understanding on how the writing works for those who don't know me. Right now I have received much helpful advice from BreakerZero from this forum.

Firstly, you wrote that you're seeking feedback and team but only elaborate on required feedback for writing related matters at this time. As an editor for more years than I'd care to admit, my professional advice is to get volunteer editors. Submit your written files for them to review and critique. As you don't mention requiring feedback on sprite design, mapping, or music, it would save your volunteer proofreaders/editors a lot of time to do it this way. That way, they can cut to the grit of your writing and let you know your strengths and weaknesses more efficiently.

Unfortunately, my workload is too much at the moment or I'd offer to review the full project. That said, I'd be happy to give some feedback on a sample section that you have concerns about. One complete scene is generally enough to identify a number of helpful things. Let me know if you think that would help and I'll be happy to assist.

Hey :)

Thank you and I kinda agree. I have, apart from notes, nothing really written down outside the game.
There is also not exactly a scene or scenes that I have concerns about. Its really that I dont know if the whole is appealing to others, and what do do with it (keep it private or go commercial)

But I am very curious what you think, so I might do it anyway. Which format should the scene have that I send you?
Should I just write it as a dialogue as in a script?
Also what kind of scene do you think is better to get an impression? something early, something late? One in an adventure or something more from the side? :)

Everyone has their own creative process. Many people I've spoken to don't write before they build the game. That said, I do strongly suggest to write out at least the main story prior to building the game. (Preferable to write out even the random skits, dialogues, etc but not entirely necessary if you've taken some writing classes.) Imagine spending hundreds of hours (or more) on something only to find out your writing skills just aren't up to par. Then having to completely rework every single scene. It's a lot more work and time that way. Whereas, if you write out the story first and have an editor go over it, you're good to go.

If your scenes only include dialogue, I'd prefer if you sent a few samples. Opening scene, ending scene, and something from the main story in roughly the middle. If you're feeling especially ambitious, I'd request the written bios for characters involved in the scenes you send. (Bios should only include information that is actually shared in the game. Not information about the character that you know but don't make known to the player.)

Yeah, what I generally tell my students, back when I had some, is that really you shoudlnt start telling a story until you have the ending. Often people have gread ideas for scenes, characters, plot points but it all becomes kinda pointless when its not part of a larger story, and that needs an ending :)

I will though I am not sure I will be able to do it tonight (sunday), but if not on monday I will send you some samples.

Do you prefer getting it in a file or should I post the text in shuold the text be in the message?

There's no rush. Even once I receive it, it will take between 3-5 days for me to look it over as work is busy right now. I do prefer it as a file rather than part of the body of the message. Brownie points if it's a Google Doc but I can work with whichever method you prefer.

You can send any further replies and files in a DM. Don't want to flood this section unnecessarily.

Hi, are you still looking for an artist? What kind of graphics are you looking to made made specifically?

Hey folks, if you post about a problem you're having, and people give you suggestions to fix it, and one of those suggestions works, don't forget to come back and let them know. And it wouldn't hurt to say thanks while you're at it ;)

Continuing our countdown with Capsule Monster #14 Plug-Go! Plug-Go was originally meant to be the design of a gameboy game I wanted to make that was inspired by Megaman Battle Network! While that hasn’t worked out I’m happy I was able to recycle his design!

12 hour little challenge for myself to do a big'ish enemy. Released for MV/MZ, working on my streamline one for later as I love the four frames over three. Spins a whole lot better I think.
Okay last one for now, it's time to go treat myself to some Zelda!

UPDATED- I've completely ripped off Sword of Mana right here lol
