Hello,

I want to present to you my newest project The Unwritten Story.

But first a bit about myself: I am a 21 year old mathematics student, currently living in Germany. I like playing video games, especially rpgs. Around 10 years ago, I used to play around alot with rpgmaker, but never finished any project. But I want to change that now with this game! I bought the RPG maker VXace a couple of months ago and started to play aroung with it for awhile, until I started my first real project:

In which I invested around 40 hours up to now. The big difference between this game and all my other little project is, that I have already a clear structure of the game and especially the story, which makes the creation of the game a lot easier.

My goal with this project is to create a game with an interesting story, combined with lots of the elements I myself like in rpgs. Like hidden secrets and an acceptabe high difficulty.
So if you like these aspect too, I hope I can create a nice adventure for you!
 

The story:

The story is divided in three parts/arcs and takes place in a world with no name yet (you can help!). The first part is told by the main character, who is between the first and second arc, and who, shocked by the recent story, rethinks his life and tries to solve the mysteries of his life. From the end of the first arc through the entire second arc, the game will have a much darker story.

The story is supposed to be a very important part of the game, so I just want to give a very short idea of the first third:

In the again unnamed Country, in which our main character lives, you have to take an orientation test, when you reach adulthood.

It is a series of test, which includes theoretical test, different combat scenarios(like one vs one duel, team fight) and a few other small things. So it is like a big tournament! This results of this test is supposed to be a guidance for your life, but also requirement for a few job paths. And like in a typical rpg, this particular test will held a little surprise for our main character which will lead him to his path and to our story.

The general theme of the game (at least for the first part)is the classic, "middle-aged" fantasy theme with caves, dungeons, castle, etc., after that the story might change the setting a bit.

Gameplay wise, it is a standart turn based combat systems, which is still in development, and will receive a great update with the next demo

The characters:

Main Character 1 (Placeholder name: Eric):
Our main protagonist, he was found as a kid at the river near the Starting city, and is yet to reveal his true faith.
He is no very good at combat, but he might have a hidden potential.




Main Character 2
He is the childhood friend of character 1 and 3, but is not yet created or present in the demo

Main Character 3 (Placeholder name: Laurance)

The female friend of our protagonist who will accompany him on his journey. She has the rare gift of being able to cast both white and black magic.




Main Charcter 4 (Placeholder name: Casandra):

A young archer which both main characters save from a bandit, but she might have a little dark secret.



Features:

Features that will be in the game:
-a "dynamically" updated worldmap (not yet)
-an affection based character system, which will have a great impact on the story! (it will for example decide if different character will survive)
-A crafting systems (not yet)
-a more than average high difficulty level(if I manage to balance it right)
-lots of hidden secrets! Including multiple post-game bosses, which will give additional story information, and might or might not unlock an additional ending!-An Achievmentsystem. One feature of it is, that it will display the number of treasure/secrets you have left to find in a specific area(not yet)

-A Questsystem+log(not yet)
-and much much more...
Developing plan:

My current developing plan looks like this:
-Completing the raw version of the first third
-Polish this version to make it nearly the finished product, release expected in 2-3 months
(Which includes, update all maps, use less of the standard rpgmaker ressources, use different emotions as facesets, not like now always the same face, rewrite a part of the dialogues, update the combat system)
-Release the second demo version
-Repeat the steps above for part two and after that for part three
-and then hopefully, release the finished game

As thanks for the support, will every person who plays the demo(and leaves a small comment/message of any kind), will be mentioned in the credits. You just have to send a message with the name you want to appear with in the credits, and you will already be added in the next demo of the game!). The credits will be accessible through out the entire game with a key item in your inventory.(In a later update the animation of the credits will also improve).

About the demo version:
It has an approxametily length of 45-120 minutes depending on your playstyle. It contains the first third of the first part, which should be aroun 7-8% of the whole game.
I really would like as many feedback and critizism as possible. Whatever comment you have on the game, to difficult/boring/slow, bugs, grammatical mistakes, just write it here, per PM or emai it at tus_rpg@hotmail.com

Additional notes about the demo: ALL names(attacks, characters, items, cities,...) are placeholder as I am terrible with inventing name, so if you have any nice idea feel free to propose them.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
