Synopsis:

You, The Wanderer, wake up in the middle of a dark, ancient and magical forest without any recollection of your past life. After meeting the keeper of the forest, who is known only as "The Master," you find that this once holy land has been corrupted by the very guardians that were put in place to protect it. Choose between a mage, thief or warrior and use your skills to defeat the corrupted guardians and help purify the once sacred land. Solve puzzles to uncover ancient secrets hidden many years ago and discover the most terrifying secret of all: your past. Each guardian you defeat grants you a massive boost of strength and the opportunity to learn a new skill. Use these skills as you wish; some abilities help to deal more damage while others help you more easily manipulate your environment and find the true reason for the forest's very existence.

Gameplay:

  • Overview - I wanted to create a game that was a mix of all my old school favorites with a little bit of modern character customization added. The game will include adventure game elements like Monkey Island and Quest for Glory as well as a combat system like that of Legend of Zelda and a small, rogue-like survival element like Ancient Domains of Mystery. I tried to use these games as inspiration, put my own spin on them and of course modernize them. Also included is a crafting element, which I will talk about later.
  • Choose between 3 Classes - Mage, Thief and Warrior. All with 12 unique abilities.
  • Battle - Real time battle system with a skill bar that is easily customizable, put any ability in any slot you wish.
  • Crafting - Find materials on your journey and use them to craft weapons and armor; each with a unique set of enchantments. There are literally hundreds of different enchantment combinations on each piece of equipment. Cook food to keep yourself from starving in the harsh forest and craft potions to top off your health and mana.
  • Customization - The Wanderer is based on a skill point system. Once you gain a skill point, choose from any of the 12 skills, but beware, even by the end of the game, you will only get a total of 7 skill points. Some skills are focused on combat and others are best suited for solving puzzles and manipulating the environment. If a player chooses all combat abilities, they will miss a ton of content in the environment.
  • Puzzles - Solving puzzles will uncover some of the forest's deeper secrets and lore as well as provide some powerful items for The Wanderer to use in combat. Some puzzles can be solved by any class,

some by only one class, and some puzzles can only be solved if you possess the required skill.

He mad, but he cute :kaopride:

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
