So I'm thinking of using a different battle system but can't really decide which one to use. I like Turn based as that's really the only type of game I used to play on a handheld device (Dragon Warrior Monsters, Pokemon, etc). But action battle ones seem cool too. Are there pros and cons to each one? And could you recommend a simple/easy to use one for each type? Thanks!

Action battle systems are HARD to implement if you're just starting out...

so if you're just starting out, I suggest sticking with the turn-based approach as customization scripts for that are easier to implement than action battle systems

Depends on what you want to achieve... IMO, you can simply use the default turn-based system and find ways to "personalize" it...

Decide on what features you really want to have in your battle, and look for scripts that will achieve those...

Like if you want side-view turn-based battle systems, I suggest looking at Yami's Symphony

If you just want to customize the default turn-based, try out Yanfly's battle engine

I shall try Yanfly's battle engine. I'll be using his battle engine and JP Class/Subclass system too

One question though. The Battle Symphony system. Is that hard to configure? I saw a video and the sprites seem small compared to the battlers

Is there a side battler script that works well with Yanfly's system?

if it's fine with what you wanna do... though it takes quite a while to set it up...

If you only want a side-view battle, you can also just opt to use Yanfly's battler script (forgot the name, animated battler or something)... what it does is to create the sprites for your party in battle using the actor sprites... but that's all that it does...

if you want to use custom battler styles like Holder style or you want your character to go near the target when you attack or use a skill, then you definitely need script like Symphony

Yeah that's what I want. I want to use both. By hard to set up, what's hard about it?

Well, it takes quite a huge time to set-up the animations that you need... + you need custom sprites too...

Is it just a lot of time and difficult, or just takes a long time? That I'm fine with. Also where can I get the custom sprites?

it's difficult sometimes... as for custom sprites for that... well we have quite a selection here, just look at the resource threads... then you can also put up a request if you need customized ones...

That's awesome!  But two questions...does a script need to be used with those, and where are the face sets?

It needs scripts that works with Holder Style animated battlers (I believe Symphony can work with those styles)... it has no facesets because those are meant for battlers not actors... you would need to request them or make one yourself

Ah. I got it. Are there any other animated battlers that can also be used in game and have face sets? I think it takes away to have a sprite but no face to it lol

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
