Hi. Anyone know of a third-party character generator that create Mack style characters? I'm not digging the Chibi style and find them a little freaky.

I spent days searching for one before, closest thing I can think of it looseleaf.

It does claim to be mack, and does look like it. But the body style is actually quite different... so you kinda have to make a sprite for almost every character in your game.

Yeah, the heads are a bit overlarge. Might work for a short, nonserious game though.

Anyway, there's a Japanese site that has what I think you're looking for:

Game Character Hub is pretty good if you're willing to pay for it. If not, Charas Project is functional, but geared toward rm2k/3 style sprites.
Does it offer a good variety of outfits, hair styles, colors, etc...?  Is it better, worse, or pertty much the same in terms of comparing it to the MV Character Generator?

Was looking at Gamehub, looks good but no support for MV.  Would anyone know if it the larger tile size?  Would I need to increase the image to 48x48 after creating characters on there?

Game Character Hub is way better than the MV Character generator. It doesn't have built-in resources for MV sizes, though. Charas-project has a ton of variety, but a lot of it is really poor quality.

You would have to stretch them. I don't know of any character generators with resources for 48pixel wide characters.

So it's base of 32x32?  Also, can you add your own resource or you get only what's there?

It has built-in resources in XP and VXAce style. You can add your own resources and you can make templates of any size and grid layout you want. There are also some resource packs in the steam workshop for it.

From what I have tried so far, game character hub could be used with MV, but as some of the items in MV generator are made of several pieces, it would need quite a bit of work, and setup some elements with the GCH option that makes combined elements... Quite a bit of work. It would anyway be better for the layering system.

Actually, MV will work with any size sprite, assuming they're formatted correctly (rows & columns)...  I was hoping to create XP style characters, assuming there's a good diversity of parts since they're taller than wider...

So once created, we just need to enlarge them using "photoshop" or another graphic program?

In most cases yes, although in reality you could use them as is... It's mostly for aesthetic purposes you'd change the size, so they match the tiles and look proportional for the map.

Try waifu resizer. It enlarges the sprite without making it pixelated.

I'm working on a site that leverages Waifu to do a proper resize without any of the 'dirtiness' Waifu introduces (eg at the sprite edges). I'll be posting about it properly once it's released - currently it only supports VX character sheets (32x32) but I'm adding support for more stuff in my free time (tilesets, non 32x32 character tiles, facesets, animations, battle backs etc).

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
