I bought this engine for less than $20 on sale on Steam which normally costs $70. I am wondering why did they make such a good sale? If this software is truly worth $70 then making it under $20 is weird and is a steal for a normal person.

Yep. Steam and Humble Bundle are both excellent places to get good software at huge discounts. Poor devs :(

And such sales only work with steam because of steams large player base. It'll still nets the developer more income due to the larger amount sold.

The first big Ace sale together with the first IGMC about 1.5 years ago on the humble bundle? Where you could get Ace plus dozens of shop packs for 12$?

Humble listed the total at the end as far above one MILLION dollars (I think it was 1.8, but don't remember exactly). Degica wouldn't have made as much from the packs at full price in the same time...

But that was distributed between all the developers of all the software, and buyers could also choose to have their money go to charity. So over a million dollars, but the developers may not have seen much of that. Unless you're saying that they actually gave a breakdown of what went to each participant?

they might have made such a breakdown - I don't remember. But someone from Degica stated somewhere that they were satisfied with the results - after all, they repeated the IGMC with a similiar bundle.

However, I have to admit that it might not have worked as well for the second bundle, because there were a lot more distributors in the bundle for the second IGMC, and the total that time fell a bit short of the number from the first, Degica-only bundle.

On the bright side it also inspired philanthropy among a lot of people who already owned much of the products offered. The first humble bundle I bought for One of Celianna's tile packs and Game Character Hub, with the rest being given away. The second time a bundle came along I had everything it offered that I wanted, and bought it just to give away to people who wanted them, and I've seen others do the same. Hopefully that philanthropy inspired some of the beneficiaries to buy other products, can't say for sure but I like the optimism in assuming it worked so.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
