have you saved it into the images/characters folder?

Do you mean it's not available in the list to select from when you're choosing a sprite for an event or an actor? Or that you can choose it, but it doesn't display when you play the game? If the latter, please show us a screenshot either of the event, or of the Actors tab (with the specific actor highlighted) as well as the System tab.

Go to database, system tab and check if the "start transparent" option is selected in your game - that's one of the few regular options that can make the player invisible at start if a sprite is visible in the database.

Otherwise, check your plugins and any antivirus that might damage the files.

I also asked for a screenshot of the System tab. I didn't need to any of the other stuff, only the Actors tab with the sprite selected.

Make sure you actually have that actor in your party.

In addition to Andar's comment, if Start Transparent is NOT checked, take a look at any autorun or parallel processes on that first map and see if any of them either change the actor graphic (via Change Actor Sprite command or Set Move Route > Change Graphic command), or if they turn transparency on or set opacity to 0.

"Transparency" is the same as "invisibility" if you have problems with english - that's why I said you need to check (as in control) it.
Of course it needs to be OFF if you want to see your actors.
