I've been working with IG Maker for about two weeks now and I have to say that once you get your head wrapped around it, the layout of the program and the way you build games makes a lot of sense (at least to me).  The interface can be a little daunting at first and may seem counter intuitive, but once you've actually built a working game (not just following the tutorials, but creating a game of your own) you see how it all comes together.   BTW, the tutorials are great and I don't think anyone would be able to get a handle on IG Maker without them... Thanks Kain,.

It's too bad that it gets a bad rap, I don't think it deserves it.

.... Yeah I'm going to disagree with your "enthusiasm" for this IG maker product... And before you community members (and moderators) get all defensive, let me start by saying I'm a "HUGH" fan of RPG maker Ace.. Purchased it for my desktop about a year ago and could not be happier with the program's interface and unique eventing system. With that being said, on to my issue with IG... First I was surprised to learn that the "free trial" did work when I tried to download it... Instead of it installing, I got a progression bar that would not progress, and soon after received an error message. Now before you go with the whole "user error" thing, let me remind you that I raved about Ace early and followed the download instructions (same I did for Ace) and still got the error message... I attempted this five times, receiving the same results each time before just giving up on the install. And to compound the problem, had a grand old time deleting the fragments that did manage to be install prior to error message... So in my opinion, IG isn't so hot as this site's forum would lead you to believe. I'm currently working on a 2D scroller and would have loved to use IG to program it, but Alas... That will not be the case unfortunately. Will be using Construct instead... Don't get me wrong, Ace is awesome! But IG maker is definitely lacking the luster of it's sister program. I swear by Ace; referred it to a fellow indie developer and he loves it also... But IG just turned me off big time... Will not be referring this tool to anyone soon.

IG maker isn't beginner friendly, i bet that's what drives most people away from it. However it has ALOT of potential IMO. If you just fiddle around with it, you can make more then just simple rpgs, side scrollers or just classic shooters. from what I've seen you can make a double dragon type of game and even hell of a lot more if you just use you're head. sure it don't have ruby but who gives a damn? IG maker has enough features to pretty much do anything.

I'll have to take your word for it... Couldn't even get the trial version to work so I have no clue what IG Maker is capable of.

Had some thing to do with the Architecture of my CPU I guess... I had received a message stating that my computer was "too new" (something to that effect) or something... It's not a lot of information I know but it was like a week ago...

It definately will run on the 64bit version Windows 7, that's what I am using.  What OS are you running?

Ok my bad... But I'm back again... I'm currently at the screen where they are asking in I want DirectX installed... They say it's optional, and to be honest this is where the program started acting up... Last week I clicked "yes" I think I will take my chances by selecting "no" this time around... May post again if it's an epic fail

That is possible. I have been writing in languages (asm, c++, etc.) for 20+ years so I may have a skewed perspective. But, it is easier than learning a whole new programing language. :)

The core problem with IG Maker isn't that it's not beginner friendly, so much as other game makers like Yoyo's Game Maker or Construct Classic are capable of producing the same types of games for a cheaper price. This sh*t was near $100 USD on release, and I've had a much better time making a game on Multimedia Fusion. It was a massive disappointment.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD

Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
