Wow Indra, I am shocked you made it that far down the list and actually finished all these games..

But ahahah yeeaahh we had a lot of time issues, so naturally it's all pretty unpolished. I'm kinda surprised you made it as far as you did to be honest, but your feedback will be super useful when we eventually get around to fleshing the game out properly, so thank you! :D

Hi! Long time no speaky! We've updated the original post and our RMN page with some news:

So you might've noticed we haven't really updated in an eternity, although I said I'd work on a patch for a couple of issues the contest build had quite some time ago now. That's because we've been working on something: going commercial. ​

We're aiming to polish the game up pretty nicely, fix the mistakes from the contest, and add a whole lot more content. I've added some images of the kind of thing we've been working on, but it's probably easier if I just provide a list of some of the stuff we're planning to do. ​
 

- Change the music: We've got a really awesome composer on our side for this one, and you can expect to hear some amazing, professional tunes that suit the game much better. 

- Change the graphics: You might've seen from the new screenshots already, but we've changed all the tiles and sprites, and we're working on some potential cutsceney stuff and finishing portraits. 

- Complex recipes: Each recipe has its own method to prepare it. No more tedious sliding bar every time you make something. Now you have to follow each different recipe and put the food together in some slightly more inspired minigames. 

- Easier interfaces: The recipe interface for sure is much easier to navigate and understand, showing you inventory quantities and the like. We're hoping the menu to move around from place to place will be a bit cuter soon too! 

- Customer interactivity: Some customers get a bit lost and don't know where to find what they're looking for. You can point them in the right direction so they don't leave unhappy. 

- On-screen inventory when harvesting: This says it all, but a lot of people complained about not knowing what ingredients they had to hand while out harvesting. Now you can see in real time exactly what ingredients you're carrying when you're out and about. 

- Wardrobe: This is actually my favourite part of the game. You can now dress Aarin up in cute little outfits for personal pleasure, but also for some cool bonus effects that can help you bake, collect ingredients and make money. 

 

That's all I can list off the top of my head for now, but there's definitely a lot of work being pumped into this game every day to make it as polished and playable as possible!​

Looks beautiful. Can we get more info on it going commercial. Will you need tester for this new version (I'd love to do it) can we keep our old version even when you come out with the commercial one? I WANT TO KNOW MORE!

Also are the ingredients going  to be randomized from the piles again, because it was annoying when you went to the sugar pile and got cream. (unless you wanted cream)

I will likely need a tester at some point though that kind of thing is sort of far off at the moment. I will definitely keep you in mind when the time comes though! It's nice to have testers who show genuine interest! :D

As for going commercial, we don't have any completely solid and confirmed details yet but you can expect to see the game out for PC sometime towards the end of this year with any luck.

Sadly the old version of the game isn't something I really had in mind when bringing about this new one, but it could be an idea to work in some kind of "reward" for people with old savefiles who load them in the new game. Sort of like a new game+ which rewards you if you got particularly far before in the contest build.

The new version will hopefully have different "areas" you can unlock to go harvesting in, meaning you're much more likely to get the ingredient you're aiming for if you went to, say, the Black Gateaux Forest where a lot more cream spawns. The items are still random but they are visible on the floor before you pick them up, so you can avoid the ones you don't want and go straight for the item you need.

Haven't played this yet, but watched Indrah's video and I just want to say that personally I think it looks like a very good game!  Love the concept of stealing cooking ingredients from the cake forest, while in-game time is passing.  Love the little Recettear-type touches in the shop.  Love the cute story.  Love the allusion to Gordon Ramsey (I made a game with him as a major character as well, though it was on RM3)!  Without having played yet (so take this with a grain of salt), it looks to me like the game would benefit if absolutely everything was sped up - player and enemy movement, in-game passing time, price-setting, and so on.

If you do bring this commercial, I'll be a customer!

Something little to keep you guys posted. Not enough to warrant a blogpost or anything, but a pretty important gameplay change: you can now carry up to 3 items when you're harvesting, so there's less back and forth. I'm thinking of making it so that combos of items when you dump them in the chest (like three eggs, three flour, chocolate - strawberry - chocolate, etc.) give you extra bonuses like a bonus item or a stamina replenishment.

Hey guys, long time no speak! I haven't updated this thread in a while, but you can catch some sporadic updates over on our Twitter (@Bunwolf) where we post every couple weeks or so with some shots of the game. 

 

We've added so much to the game since we last spoke though, including some huge updates to harvesting, boss fights, a wardrobe section, bakery styles, etc. etc. The game has just taken such a huge turn in terms of content compared to its younger IGMC self. I'm really excited to start sharing it with everyone. :rhappy:

 

So you can now dress Aarin up in all sorts of cute outfits that will affect how well he performs!​
A lot of these effects have been changed since the video was made, but the outfits are still very much just as cute!​

Some huge changes to the way you harvest, including being able to carry THREE items at once now. You can also get bonuses for depositing three items at once, plus a bonus for depositing three of a kind!​
And you might even be able to find some wardrobe items out here..​

Can't wait for more on this game. It looks so fun.

You should add Like a main world hub area, where you go to different shops to buy upgrades/and clothes, and there are also different roads leading to the different ingredient harvesting areas. Plus you can walk to your store from the town area. I've always loved these and exploring them, like Mario 64's Peach's Castle.

Also you should add unrelated minigames where you can earn small amounts of money if you win. This could be in like a arcade building in the town world hub.

Sorry. I know your busy and are already working on a lot. I shouldn't bug you with my (silly) wishful thinking. :D

EDIT: I just read a little more of your post and saw that you were doing minigames for each recipe. That should take care of my minigame hunger, but a town map would still be cool. :)

There is a town map, but it's essentially an overworld map that you choose destinations on, rather than having to walk to each place.

I also adore the idea of walking to each place by foot, but we have some time restrictions and I also figure that some people would get tired of repeating the same walking process each time they needed to go somewhere, so we had to cut back and make it a lot more accessible.

It's good to hear you're excited though! We'll certainly be keeping everyone posted with updates!

You've said that you need play testers at sometime. Any idea how soon that will approximately be?

i would of considered this a good game if the 7 day limit didn't randomly switch to 13.


and theres no way to skip days.


on the 3rd morning the pig made it clear you have 4 days left and after those days it added another 6...


tho that might of been a older version.

02/12/2016 [TIRAWRMISU - Starting Tutorial]


 


Long time no update! I've made a video to showcase the first 15 minutes or so of what we had in the game so far, though this is all going to be changed in a completely new build in future. I suppose this footage can now be seen as what's become more like a "prototype," and we'll be overhauling pretty much everything in an attempt to release something a lot more playable and entertaining. Regardless, enjoy what we had so far!

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
