Tile changes color when moving Up/Down

Hi.

I'm having a problem with a tileset I made.  When I move up/down the lighter color changes to a dark tint (however when I move left/right or near edge of screen and not scrolling it doesn't do it).

I've made the tile as a lone tile (in layer B) and an autotile and it does it both ways. It's suppose to be a paved town road.

Here is the image (in autotile format).  The top left image has the lighter tint I was using (then I tried making darker for the autotile and it still does it).  (The rest of the tileset works fine, it's just this one tile).

Any ideas?  (Hopefully it's clear what the problem is, semi-hard to explain).

Thanks!

EDIT:  (I can't reply, currently at max post count for day).  I put the autotile on A2 (and when I tried it as just just 1 tile (as shown in the top-left of the autotile, not autotile it was at layer B) . Both caused this image distortion/color.   The TilesetMain-Ground -> A2  /   TilesetTown -> B.  All other tiles on the sets work fine, it's just this specific one.  *On the autotile one I made the shading darker (instead of the lighter look of the top-left tile) and it still does it.

Please show us a screenshot of the tileset with that tile - where did you place that?

In Ace, the slots for tilesheets and the position of a tile in the tilesheet affects how the engine works with that tile.

For example if you placed that tilesheet in the A1-slot with the animated autotiles it will change because it's not in the format for animated autotiles.

Updated pic in original post!

Thanks.

You don't have any lighting effects scripts or any overlay pictures in your game, do you? Does it do the same thing in a brand new project with NO modified/added scripts?

It gives the same result even when creating a new project (no scripts).  It's just this one tile.

I made a video showing it.

http://www.wasianstudios.com/tiletest.flv  (when uploaded to youtube doesn't show what's happening).

Can you zip up your project and give me a link to it?

Well, I'm not sure. The tiles are in the correct sheets, and the sheets are in the correct slots, and your scripts are exactly the same as mine from the RTP.

I've also tried both the original as well as the hi-res dll and they don't seem to make a difference.

I was wondering if it's something to do with the way you've drawn your tiles - that maybe they're drawn in the program a little differently to what you've done (the way the autotiles tile), but that would not explain the B tiles doing the same.

I'm afraid I don't know the answer, and I'm out of guesses. I'm trying to recall if anyone else ever had the same issues, but I'm coming up blank on that, too.

Sorry I'm not much help - apart from ruling out some possibilities :(

@ Shaz  Thanks for the help.  Yeah I couldn't figure it out either since all the other tiles work fine (drew them also, all in GIMP).  Guess it doesn't like the way I colored it or something.  I'll just change it but thought it might have been a bug or something other people where having a problem with.

Thanks for trying! :)

The top left is colored lighter than the rest, right? You want this fixed so that they all remain one color or...?  If so, the right and bottom's lighter gray is "b5b5b5", while the left is "d4d4d4" (With extra loose color differences). That seems like the cause of your tint problem...assuming I understood you correctly, because I have never seen this problem before. :o

If I understood, I made an edit to the tileset (hopefully not the wrong one). Does it still change colors?

@ Aleks

Yeah the Top-left color is different  (but doesn't matter in the autotile, since top-left is just the visual on the placement editor).  I put the top-left tile on Layer B (so just that specific tile, ignoring the autotile) and still does it.  I'm guessing it doesn't like my shading, only thing I can think of.

The problem is, it does it also with the B tile, and that's just a plain old 32x32 tile - not an autotile.

I think the fact that one of them is an autotile is a red herring. Concentrate on getting the B tile working and that might lead you to the solution for the autotile.
