Not really sure what to call it but here it goes. I have been making custom tiles for our game and been having this issue quite a few times. Basically, here's a picture showing what I mean

How can I fix those dirt outlines as they really seem to mess up the look a good bit.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

You haven't tagged which program you're using, so I'm going to assume you're using MV or VXAce.

I think you would really benefit from watching Tommy Gun's tutorial series on autotiles. (Since video links broke during the recent site update, here is a direct link to the first video on YouTube.) One of the more important aspects to your question is when he talks about which tiles can support transparency, around the 9:45 timestamp in that first video.

If you're interested in a more technical diagram of how an autotile is drawn, see this blog post by Nick Palmer.

either you're making the autotiles in the wrong format (in which case this is the correct forum part, but you need to show us the tilesheet picture you're using to find your error), or you're not using shift-click-mapping (in which case you should search for a tutorial on that, one is linked in my "starting point" tutorial in my signature) and this needs to be moved to the support forum of the maker you're using.

which one is it?

Sorry, I was looking through the forums trying to find where to ask lol. I'm using RPGMAKER MV for this.

Here's the tilesheet I'm using Custom Autotiles.png

I used the base Outside A2 to know how to lay them out. That plus was using the in-game help thing (F1) and read about the tile assets...multiple times actually, but I got quite confused lol.

1) autotiles are based on quartertiles - those pictures you got from A2 are NOT 2x3 tiles in structure, they are 4x6 quartertiles.
this blogpost explains it:
http://blog.rpgmakerweb.com/tutorials/anatomy-of-an-autotile/

2) you need to know about shift-click mapping in order to use the autotiles
That is why you have those dividerlines on your map, you need to use shift-click mapping to prevent them.

Wow. Alright so I just went ahead and used the shift click method y'all mentioned...
Check this out!

That's exactly what I wanted! And thanks as well for the anatomy of auto tiles. I'll definitely be bookmarking it. Thanks guys!

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
