Hey again,

Another issue I need help with - I created a new tileset using pre-existing ones (mixed and matched from indoor and outdoor, sci fi and medieval, really), and now some of the tiles, even though part of them should appear invisible, are not working as such!  They just leave a white outline.  Any advice?

Can you take a screenshot of what your tiles look like?

Here's an example - I cropped it to the specific tile that isn't working right now - other tiles have failed before, too.  (The statue in this case, obviously.)

Thanks - hope someone can help!  BTW, I'm having a blast with this software!

Try covering the statue with the ground tiles, and then put the statue on top of that. :)

That's what's weird... it doesn't work!  It just erases the ground tile entirely!  :/

If you're talking about the frame around the statue - you can't put statues on any A sheet as those are for the low layer, and the statue needs to be on the upper layer (B-E) to have ground below them.

Additionally, please keep in mind that each of the five A#-slots require a different tilesheet format and you can only place tilesheets there that are marked for that slot (A1 into A1 and so forth). The unmarked tilesheets can go into any B-E slot.

Did you edit the tiles in a program like MS Paint that doesn't allow for transparency?

MV tiles use a "painted" style, so the edges aren't clearly defined like pixel art, they're anti-aliased with the transparent background i.e. lots of semi-transparent pixels around the edges to soften them. Saving "painted" tiles in a program that doesn't allow for transparency will ruin that and leave you with artifacts around the edges.

EDIT: Holy crap, super ninja'd by four posts. Nevermind, now that I see your screenshot, what I said doesn't apply.

The A tiles are very specific as to what goes where.  ANYTHING with transparency, where you want to see the tiles under it, has to go on the B-E sheets.

The Tileset tab has comments on each of the A tiles indicating what should go on them.  And the help file explains it all as well, in more detail.  The tilesets you were using as a guide should also have given you hints as to what's okay and what's not, for each sheet.
